I'm by no means great but if anyone wants some tips , or wants to come up for some matches/practice/tips, i just live in town.
Can also play online to throw a few tips etc and we can tape matches and discuss it here.

Also if anybody wants to borrow this,
    frontcoversmallom4.png
Its quite good for some general knowledge and some nice strats for all characters, some of the stuff is slightly inaccurate but im sure people will pick it up.

    Need some stiff competition.
Ireland for next SBO ! yeah !!!!!

I wish I had gotten into SF3. I had it for the Dreamcast and all, but nobody I know in the "Real World" likes fighting games and I never managed to get that Dreamcast arcade stick either so playing it was a bit of a chore.

*Sigh* such a beautiful looking game too.

    But... 3S is dead now!
    It's dead!
    Deaaaaaaad!!
We must embrace our 3D overlords!
    ......
    2D will never die!

I really enjoy playing this game but I'm quite new to it so any tips are very much so appreciated! Right now I'm thinkin of playing either Akuma or Ken. I'm not really interested in the new SF3 characters but Urien has caught my eye as being maybe fun to play.

3s is great, do you play on 2df?

I'd always be up for a few games and some hints/tips placebo. Unfortunately I can't play online but we could meet up for games.

I used to play a good bit before SF4 came out and I'm a bit rusty but I'm sure I could pick it up again

Cool. Remind me not to jump in the corner when you're playing oro :p

As for embedding, I think you only need the part after watch?v=

    some general tips

-when/if youre jumping, im gonna try dash to the opposite side and super
-when you fall try do quick stand [tap down]
-when you fall and im standing right beside you, DONT HP Shoryuken, not sure why alot of people do this, alot of players standing will tap forward and press grab, in this instance if you hit me it will parry, or if you try grab, it will counter grab.
Best options for knocked out opponent
    -tap forward and grab
    -just block down
-block down and hit lp or lk to cancel out any big attacks opponent is about to perform
-LP shoryuken or any other LP/LK attack if you have to

try use LP/LK alot to cancel out other bigger moves, i always do this, chun-li's LP resets alot of people moves.

you can never over use UOH :)

was playing this amazing URIEN player on 3S called brutal_bar, from france.
I managed to get S grade with chunli, with a poor performance,

    replay below :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,707 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Pfft, anyone can get an 'S' grade with Chunners!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

no? its easier to get with low tier, such as sean ! harder as the tier goes up, which is why almost all pro etc ken matches barely ever go beyond a C++

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 123 ✭✭Reanimemmett

It's not about grades though, it's just about winning!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,985 ✭✭✭animaX

Great game placebo! You were so lucky to have just enough super meter for that last one :D

In Placebo's/AntiGirls defense, he's one of the few Chunnies I played that wasn't 'headwreckingly' abusive of her while at the same time being really good. They were always enjoyable fights even when I got my ass kicked. Where as other chunny players...well its like like the annoying giefs in SF4.

Yeah I always noticed I'd get these good grades when playing as Sean and Oro.

Right, with Lanparty coming I've decided to put some effort into actually learning this game.

When I have played I've had the most fun with Dudley so that's who I've been looking at. I've been messing around in training mode and found the following, these could be very wrong, so any advise would be appreciated.

    - cr.RH seems to safe enough to throw out irregularly and go for the juggle, which seem to Dudleys bread 'n' butter
    - The QCF + Punch are unsafe on block
    - QCB + Kick are unsafe on block except for the EX version
    - What the hell is QCB + P?
    - His anti-airs are cr.HP/st.MK/Dragon Punch/SAI? (Speaking of which I believe this is his best SA?)

I've also messed around with his juggles but I'm finding the timing really weird to figure out whats possible. If anyone has any B'n'Bs I could work from I'd appreciate it.

    Any comments/advise would be great.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭Dreddybajs

Corkscrew blow is his best SA for comboing into, QCB+P is a counter move, it sucks, don't use it, not sure about the rest.

As for BnBs Dudley's combos are almost all character-specific target combos so good look with that. :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,707 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

I know nothing of Dudlely sadly, but I heard that they were giving him more Target Combos in SSFIV...

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Orim

Mayhaps I picked the wrong character to try and learn :o
Especially considering I've got less then a week.

Yeah, I love Dudley too but he is a huge committment to learn (though you'll probably only have to know the Ken and Chun matchups :pac:).

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,707 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

You can learn Ken/Chun in 1 week :D
I've got very little to do during the week, so if you want a sparring partner, I'm up for it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Orim

I like Dudley though. I just want to get up above scrub level and play somewhat seriously.

I might take you up on the sparring offer, if you're willing to come into town.
