Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Starting a car that has been lying up

Am going to start a car tomorrow that has not been moved in about 12 months, it wasn't properly stored or nothing. It's a '95 Audi A4 Tdi. I have already had to inflate the 4 tyres, do I need to drain any diesel or anything of the sort? Thanks.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

It won't start on its own :)

You'll have to jump / push start it or better - charge the battery first.

If the handbrake or brakes work 100% from the start, then consider yourself lucky, OP.

Any of those parts can easily be seized.

Charge battery, check water and oil levels. Diesel sitting in her should be ok to start it but top up with fresh diesel pretty soon after. Once started if breaks are seized rock back and forth very slowly to release. Once released take car to safe area and break heavily a few times to clear rust and debris off discs.
