Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think this game is going to be very important for Liverpool,it was against teams like Stoke were we lost the league last season we just could not brake down the teams who came to Anfield and put 11 men behind the ball.

I hope Yossi starts. This game is not on the box but a few pubs have it on.

    do you promise?:)

    anyway!

i want to see the following:
    --lucas
    ---gerrard--
    kuyt--yossi---babel
    --torres

    reason:

its the kind of game masc shouldnt be needed and lucas will create more going forward, while breaking up whatever stoke play through the middle.

I'm giving Babel one more chance. i want to see some aggression and passion in his play tonight. If he can get a goal and get his confidence up like lucas i think he will be a big player for us.

Yossi in my oppinion has to start, he's exactly the type of player to break down the stoke rearguard. With 11 men behind the ball Stevie's run's are going to be limited and torres will do well to find space. Yossi's quick feet and ability to beat a man will be vital.

    my prediction:

hopefully we can get an early goal and if we do i could see us winning by 3. if we dont score early i could see another nervous 90.

    3-0
    yossi x2
    torres

I don’t agree at all with the thinking that Mascherano is not needed for games like this.
Stoke are a physical side, and we need his power and energy in midfield so we aren’t overrun like on Sunday.

    My team would be:

    Reina

    Johnson
    Carragher
    Skrtel
    Insua

    Mascherano
    Lucas

    Kuyt
    Gerrard
    Benayoun

    Torres

Stoke are a team more than happy to give the opposition the ball, defend from the front and hoof it forward.

Pulis plays 4-4-2 and thats basically it, can see Fuller and Beatie giving the Scouse defense alot of hassle.

Delap as usual to cause confusion in the box.

Stoke to take the lead, put 8 in their box, but the Scouse will equalise.

    1-1

I'm going to say it's a draw because I'm a united fan. Played you hand very nicely this morning boyos.

I'd go for whatawaster's team, though Benayoun and Insua won't offer a lot of width on the left. I wouldn't mind giving Babel another go out there either.

Or I looked at the previous 2 meetings and watched the Scouse inability to create anything on Sunday and came to the conclusion that a draw is a good possibilty.

Havn't seen your prediction on the thread yet Denis?

actually I did say last night in the gambling thread that i see the liverpool v stoke game ending in a draw ;)

    Mascherano
    Lucas

    Kuyt
    Gerrard
    Benayoun

    Torres
I'd go for the same, except I'd push Lucas up closer to Gerrard.

    Bollox tbh.

This is a game which a stronger Liverpool of last season couldn't win, so a prediction of a draw is perfectly reasonable.

In fact, the absolute biased nature of Liverpool fans taking the hump because someone dare predict that they might not win a match is cringeworthy.

Will ya ever take your nonsense parade elsewhere,
I hardly took the hump, very jovial altogether.

Although I do think you are wrong, both in this thread and in life.

    Keep it up! :D

Wouldn't have Lucas or Babel near this game if it can be avoided. With any luck Reira will be okay to start.

    I'd go 4-4-2.

    Is Riera injured?

We created plenty in this fixture last year and it was a miracle it ended 0-0. It was the away match we were terrible in.

I think it will be 2-0

I recall plenty being created in both games. Dis-allowed goals, post being hit on more than one occasion, incredible saves. Your talking through your behind as usual

    Liverpool 0 - 0 Stoke City September 20

    75.7% Possession 24.3%

    I'd love to see 4-3-3.
Johnson and Insua can provide the width.

    Reina

    Carra
    Skrtel (hopefully)

    Johnson
    Insua

    Masch

    Gerrard
    Lucas

    Kuyt
    Benni/Babel

    Nando

    All very well.

But he was talking about Liverpool being unable to create even a half chance on Sunday against Spurs.

Changy McChangy story and the Change brigade.
But for sure we were pretty shocking the other day and as such we will not create a chance all season, that is how it works after all your first game of the season will be replicated 37 more times and you will have the exact same outcome and turn of events in every match.

Jesus lads, why is my opinion on the result being debated.

I gave my reasons and a prediction, which is far more realistic than some on here.

We will know at 10 tonight either way.

    yep, both outstanding young players.

funny cause last year Utd fans were claiming that Anderson was among the best around & **** on Fabregas/Gerrard etc-thats what i take exception to.

if they continue to develop they could be a couple of the best around in a few years.

So Lucas is not outstanding. He may in a couple of years, but he isn't now?

the song may be tongue in cheek, but we all know how over-rated he was for the last 18 months (a bit of realism is starting to occur now), the simple fact is Utd fans rated (some still do) as one of the best in the league-which was comical.

    really?
cause one of them is improving all the time, and it aint Anderson-its the one that didn't cost 18m.

Dont see Stoke scoring at all , even after the poor defensive display sunday, but i do fear another 0-0. A draw would be bad, a loss devastating, I'll go for a good responce from Liverpool after the dissapointment from the weekend. 2-0 Liverpool win.
