Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Despite the recession, Sligo CoCo must have found a wad of money somewhere. Yesterday they we re-tarring a badly pitted stretch of road on my daily commute. They didn't quite finish it and only got as far as the second last stage ...the really smooth layer before they put on the final rough coat of chippings and the line paint.

Anyway, last night and this morning it rained and driving on the new stretch this morning was some experience. The whole road surface was covered in an oily film (in rainbow colours :D) of fresh tar juices and rainwater ...it was like an ice rink. Despite the 70 miserly horsepower of my van, I actually managed to get wheelspin on an uphill stretch

Wouldn't want to be on a bike there this morning.

This is your chance to feel what it's like driving in Sweden in the wintertime ;)
Some people can't get up slopes or even their own driveways.

Isn't that what caused the school bus to skid, overturn and kill 5 schoolgirls a few years back . Should they have allowed the road to re-open in that condition?

just the ordinary roadworks warnings ...nothing about speed limits or temporary surface or anything like that.
