His signature on his email says CCNP and MCSE and also
He doesn't have a clue tho, doesn't even know how to do subnetting.
Does anyone know, can I just email Microsoft/Cisco to confirm?

If you are his manager or a member of HR management then you can request the certs from him. Neither Cisco nor MS will provide these details to a 3rd party.

BTW, if he says that they are in storage down the country or that the dog ate them: They are available online and easy to access :)

You can request a copy of his transcript or use the transcript sharing tool which can be provided by the MCP ... Cisco have something similar

    MS one is https://mcp.microsoft.com/authenticate/validatemcp.aspx
    Cisco: http://www.ciscocertificates.com/verify.cfm

For the MS one they supply you an ID and password and you get a readonly view of their transcript to verify their credentials.. if they are valid, well then there is possibly another option...

We had a guy on here a few years back who claimed to be both too, had it in his signature loud and proud, then tried to convince the network board that Routers didn't need IP addresses since 'they just route packets'. If you want to force the issue then yes go with the cert verification, or he could have just dumped them and have the paper anyway.

Is there a charge for using the ciscocertificates website?
Thats the excuse he's using for not validating via that, $15 charge for it is what he says.

For the MCSE, he gives you his Transcript Sharing code, there is no charge.

Here are the instructions you can give him :-)

    Go to https://mcp.microsoft.com
Log in using your Live ID
On the left hand column, go to View My... then Transcript Sharing Code
Put in an Access Code, and press Submit.

I wouldn't mind seeing it so I can see what a real one looks like, if you don't mind.

    Thanks.

Alas the individual in question was in a fatal accident before his true worth could be ascertained.

    - He was crossing the road at lunchtime to get a ham sandwich and was knocked down and killed by an out of control packet sniffer.

I got confirmation from Cisco that he doesn't have the CCNP/CCNA.
But rather than have to listen to another lame excuse from him, I've decided not to say anything to him about it.

No doubt the next line will be, "But I had it years ago and its expired".

If his job was based on his certs, the one word that he'll hear is "goodbye"...

...or wait until he f**ks up, and sends your company into the wall, with everyone out of a job.

Seriously follow it up, go to his/your boss.
Then if he ****s up it will be your bosses fault then for not following it up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Ginger

He wouldnt even be getting the good in goodbye.. He lied so you cant trust him.. its a breach of contract and ethics
