Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Thanks very much!

Brace yourself for the heat over here tbh! A stuffy gallery is the last place you'll want to be!

If you're determined though, I quite like the National Portrait Gallery.

I haven't gotten around to seeing it yet, but the Gay Icons exhibition is supposed to be very good.

We took the boat from Westminster to Kew Gardens and it is a very nice way to spend a day:

There are many buildings along the way that make good photos.

Oooh just as well I saw this post. :-)

I'm actually heading over to London next Wednesday for a long weekend.
I'd be interested in getting some good quirky shots of the place while I'm there. I don't think anyone needs yet another meh pic of Big Ben ;-)
    Any recommendations?
I'm staying with a friend in Brixton, but I'd have at least one day on my own to spend taking oodles of pictures. :)

The Photographer's Gallery is well worth a look, centrally located: http://www.photonet.org.uk/

Various museums and galleries allow photography (for example, the Saatchi Gallery which is excellent for contemporary art)

London is a photographer's paradise, I think - pick up a copy of Time Out, and start with a stroll along the river from Westminster to London Bridge along the South Bank.

I've put my London shots into a flickr collection:

Enjoy, and it would be nice to see your results.

Pop over to ApertureUK - Get the tube to Tottenham Court Road, head up New Oxford St, and take a left onto Museum St, it's on your right - Nice little cafe in there too. The chaps are quite nice.

If you've settled on what you're going to buy, give them a phonecall before you go, make sure they have it in stock. There's a Jacobs and a Jessops on the way there too if you want to stop in there.

"London Camera Exchange" on Strand (near Embankment tube) are a small friendly shop and do reasonably good deals on cameras. Very central and much more knowledgeable than Jessops.

There is a small shop round the corner from the British Museum whose name escapes me now, he does very good deals on lenses, they don't have a showroom so you would want an idea of what you want before going in. I got a Canon 50mm 1.8 there for something like £65.

Is that one in Pied Bull Sq? I think I know it - It's a bit off the beaten track if you don't know where you're going, it's just up from ApertureUK if you're going for a wander :)
