Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wigan look very composed and well organised under Martinez.

if we'd had ronaldo or aguero, we'd have scored by now!

United really struggling with the Wigan physicality. Hargreaves would be just the man to have here.

Super touch from Gomes, N'Zogbia really needed to do better.

When is he back from injury? United could certainly do with him.

Tevez would be the man to put in now... He'd definitely change the game :(

    Why are we so sloooooowwwwwwww

That was a poor cross from Nani.

Rooney going for the world offside record today

N'Zogbia is rubbish, play seems to be breaking down at his feet too much...

Please tell Fletcher to stop trying to score. Thanks.

I don't think United are playing particularly badly, Wigan have just been excellent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,875 ✭✭✭ShoulderChip

Ingenius tackle from Bramble the legend.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,088 ✭✭✭Ruskie4Rent

All the attacking players are way too static. No movement or invention.

4-4-2 does nothin for me. Rooney and Berebatov offer their best football when they come deep and give the midfield options yet they get criticized for it. I say let 'em.

i dunno, midfield has been fairly poor, rooney and berbatov havent got their shooting boots on today...

Close from Berbatov. Looking like one of those games.

    Bramble saves the day again.

Scholes needs to come off before he's sent off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,533 ✭✭✭Zonda999

    All these wigan free kicks!

    FFS scholes!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

Rooney looks off the pace today. Maybe its just Titus Bramble who has somehow transformed from laughing stock of the league to potential team of the season candidate.

In fairness to him he has been very solid and consistent the last 2-3 years,

its a very hard thing to shrug off the calamity tag.

    Valencia out!!
Owen in... We need a goal!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

More balls need to go into Berbatovs feet around the area. If we're going to make 4-4-2 work, he needs to get more service than he would have had in the 4-2-3-1

Well, this is Rooney's third game in a week. I'd be surprised if he's on for the full 90 tbh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,552 ✭✭✭Bobalicious93

Valencia's been poor. Rooney could have had a hat-trick by now.

Otherwise it's a vast improvement on Wednesday

Not looking great for United here. Wigan look a match for them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,454 ✭✭✭mink_man

owen for nani and put valencia on the left and fletch ont he right!....for a 4-1-5 formation!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

    Half time.

Erm. Ok, we need to change it up. Scholes has to come off, i would love to bring Michael Carrick in put that cant happen, so im not sure what should be done.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,407 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Overall, Utd have had more chances, and the clearer opportunities. However, Wigan have competed very, very well all over the park. Koumas, Rodeagalla and Gomes look to have some cutting edge about them too.

That said, and not forgetting his magnificent block and tackle, Bramble is liable to be caught out clean again. And it remains to be seen whether Wigan can maintain their workrate and physicality if Utd have more possession again in the second half.

    Interesting game thus far.

Much better than Wednesday. Nani and Berba have done v v well for me..

I am concerned about our midfield though..Valencia is not imposing himself on the game..

And what the hell do we have to do to score right now...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,454 ✭✭✭mink_man

our play ahs been good, its just we're havin the rpoblem alot of people said we would have, scoring goals!!

Wouldn't go that far, United have had superior possession and good chances. If United take the lead in the second half, it could be comfortable. Wigan have been good, they've been solid, organised, and nearly had one or two chances at goal, but United have been the better outfit, and should be in the lead.

should be going in 2 up but we were still poor enough.scholes is poor so far.does anyone else think owen could come on for scholes and let rooney drop into scholes position?

we need niko kranjcar, out of contract next summer and said he wont sign a new contract with pompey!! cheap player???

Hmm, not sure I agree with that. He had a few blunders last year, and the year before. The lapses in concentration have never fully gone away. However, they are balanced by his supreme athleticism and physical commitment. He is capable of making unbelievable recovery challenges.
