Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can I ask a slightly OT question please? All my paid apps...how many devices am I allowed to install them on? I currently have a N7 and GNex. Was thinking about getting one of those Android sticks.

It's not limited. I have my Gmail account on three different phones at the same time.

Had more than that at certain times when testing phones. Fire away

Coming to that I just installed the trial there yesterday and it seems to be way easier to type on that, than swift key.

    Liking it so far.

Don't suppose there's a "essential" list of Android games anywhere? At the moment I have Plague, Dead Trigger and Where's My Water. I was going for Asphalt 7 but baulked at the 1.6GB size!

Have you tried "the room" ?

Ah I forgot about that!!! I noticed it's highly rated and very popular but I'm not a big fan of puzzle games...find them a bit dry.

    Hi,
I came across itube on my buddies iPhone which is a quality (I think) music app.

I searched for it on the play store with no luck. I have an SGS2 Android 2.3.6

Is there any similar app on the Android market?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,597 ✭✭✭smilerf

Lads is there a app that turns the accelerometer on only when you need it. Watching video etc

For what device. I know on Samsung units, it's built in. In the notification bar you can lock the screen to a certain orientation, horizontal/vertical.

I see thanks not looking to lock it just an automatic turn on/off if one exists

Tasker can do that, you can set the rotation lock to turn off when certain apps are active.

Oh I want it, but I can guarantee it, I will never play it once I get it. Controls are way too awkward for a touchscreen device. It's even awkward on a tablet

I agree, It looks great on iPad but the controls....... You get stuck on certain missions that you'd fly by on console/pc

Yes because I'm going to waste time and money to carry around another gadget with me...the whole point of these games ate to be able to play them on the phone.

    Remote for VLC:

I installed this app this evening on my SGS2. However, I've been unable to get it working for me? I've tried entering the IP address and the Port but to no use.

Does anybody have any experience with this app and advice on how get it working correctly??

The reviews read well but just a tad pricey for me. I only want it for casual use but at the same time it needs to be some way decent. Thanks for your suggestion though. .

Just use Google navigation. Voice commands are usually boring.
Can be changed to male or female, and I'm sure there other voices that can be downloaded.

Osmand is free but I think you are limited to downloading 16 maps. I use every time I'm on holiday. There is a bit of a learning curve to get the most out of it but in general for a free map app it does the job well. Two negatives I would say is that it can be a bit slow to render the map when you zoom in/out and it doesn't look as nice as a navigation app you pay for. It is getting better with every update so I'd say they are going to start outright charging for it soon even though it is classed as 'opensource'?

Apparently Facebook are buying it for a billion or thereabouts so it must be pretty decent. Sounds like a great idea... anyone have any experience using it in Ireland?

I only use it once or twice a year, but it's handy and good. Especially in 're routing road accidents and road works.

Cheaper than buying an actual Sat Nav and its always with ya

Not without rooting I think . How much volume do ya need? Most phones have enough.

Hate when ya have some one walking around or on the train with music up so loud that the whole carriage can hear it...

It's more for walking on the street really, where background noise can be quite high.

Better headphones could be what you're looking for instead, what are you using now? (Dont say the little buds that came with the phone...)
