Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey guys,,, just a quick question!

Does anybody have or intended to buy a car for around 1000 euro?
Im lookin to buy and this is my budget and wanted to get some advice on how reliable cars in this price range are.
I can afford maybe a fiat punto but have had loads of disaster stories about people having to poor hundreds more into their punto to keep it going ?

    Thanks :):)

I presume from the forum picking you are just starting out.

Given your price range and insurance I would look at something like a Micra or Peugeot 106.

Micra would be your best bet. I paid less then 1000 for mine - 97 reg but she was in good nick and served me well.

If it has a bit of an NCT that price is ok. But offer 250 anyway and work from there. Depends on the condition really.

Also, check out gumtree.ie, donedeal.ie and adverts.ie for other cars in your pricerange. Remember to factor in the different costs of tax and insurance also.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

My mate has had a 96 and 98 corsa and nothing but problems with both of them.

Go for a micra, brilliant little cars and give very little trouble

I got a 2000 fiat punto for €900, but mind that it was a fiat and ended up costin around 1500 with repairs. :p Great little car tho since.

But still, dont buy a punto!!

I have a micra, its my first car and got it this year. Its a 97 and has a years NCT. I paid 750 for it and it has given me no trouble so far. Cheap tax too. Try find something along the lines of that.
