Jeff just read out the news there. Davenport and his Mam were stabbed in their home last night. His Mam's injuries not thought to be life threatening. Davenport was stabbed in both legs and has been in surgery all morning. His injuries are said to be serious!

West Ham United can confirm that Calum Davenport was being treated in hospital on Saturday afternoon after an incident late on Friday night.

The 26-year-old defender and his mum both suffered stab wounds at home in Bedford. His mum is recovering while Calum underwent surgery this morning and his injuries were described as serious by doctors.

The club's medical team are in contact with hospital staff. The thoughts of everyone at West Ham are with Calum and his family and, due to the ongoing police investigation, no further information will be released at this time.

Just reading a report in the Telegraph which says that sources close to Davenport have said that the perpatrators were people who were "not unknown" to the victims.
It says the incident occured at 5am outside his mothers house and that Calum lives closeby with his wife and daughter.

25 year old who was arrested is allegedly the boyfriend of Calum's sister. Family are not happy with the company she keeps, including her boyfriend, it lead on from that.

Lousy to stab a football in both legs. Basically tried to end his career and kill him mother and ruin his life. I'd love nothing more than for him to make a quick recovery and get back on the pitch and for those lads to get exactly what they deserve.
