Even though I'm not a first year I forget this - When do we find out our campus house numbers, and being able to check if they correctly arranged your housemates?

Turn up at the village reception and ask. If you get there early enough the friends issue shouldn't be a problem, but realistically you're probably better not living with friends to aavoid the "it's your turn to...." arguments.
