Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Who do you think plays the worst football in the Premier league - I think its a tie between Stoke and Blackburn .
I was really enjoying the start of the new season , the quality , the competitivness , but the route one bombardment of Stoke and Blackburn , is like a poor low quality GAA match. Then Stoke wonder why they are always at the end of Match of Day - no one but Stoke fans want to watch it - much more respect for West Brom who actually try and play some football.

And to prove I am not biased, my own club Everton , the school of Science , can be hard on the eye under Moyes, in fact my own in interest in the team , has weakened since the glory days of the 80's , and the new conservative style of football was employed.

I found it very hard to get excited about watching the highlights of Stoke v Birmingham this morning. Very hard indeed.

Well someone had to troll the thread!

Birmingham v Bolton is the sort of game that lights the screen up.

Sorry I what I meant to say was that Birmingham v Bolton is the sort of game that you'd set light to your screen to avoid

About 2 years ago I would have agreed but for the last year or so they are playing much more watchable football

I find Hull very hit and miss, sometimes they can be good to watch but other times they are just awful

Define worst. What you've described is teams playing to their strengths. If all you can afford is cloggers.......

What ticks me off is when you see the supposed "Quality" sides resort to route one, it's referred to as "The long pass"

    How is it trolling?

Because Liverpool have a huge fan base?

I personally find watching Liverpool play boring.

    Nothing trollish about that Mike.

    Just my humble opinion.

Okay but of all the teams you could have picked like Brum or Bolton or Stoke you picked Liverpool who scored nearly 3 goals a game on average for the year 2009 and are led by Torres and Gerrard.

Just seems strange, still horses for courses.

There are lots of bad footballing sides in the Premiership.
Birmingham,Stoke and Bolton are probably the worst.
They can barely string 3 passes together.
Its baffling how some of these guys are professional footballers .

That must be because Liverpool score more goals than anyone else.
    Goals ruin football.

The thing with the likes of Stoke is that they are grinders. Most of the time they get stuck in and play gritty football. It may not be pretty alot of the time but I enjoy it.They are a physical and hard team and remind me of Vinnie Jones era Wimbeldon. The game has become so sanitised its refreshing to see this type of team.

I watched the Spurs/Pool match last Sunday and fell asleep during it.Its been a long time since that happened watching any game.

But as you said, horses for courses.
    :)

I love Arsenal tbh. Their six goals vs Everton were sublime.

West Ham under Zola play good football too. Cole's goal vs Wigan (I think) last season sums them up.

Bad football? Liverpool can be pretty bad, but they have got better imo.

I suppose Stoke, Hull and Bolton are worthy candidates.

That's a very typical comment of someone who has never played football themselves, to any decent level.

Best would be most Brazillian teams and current Man Utd., Arsenal or Barcelono -

Worst would be a lump it up the middle at a big target man , rejoice at throw ins to lump it in again and hope for best. Stiffle creativity by getting as many men behind the ball as possible, stop the other team playing in order to draw and serve up a poor form of GAA - I guess Stoke fit the bill best - regret they stayed up and the Baggies went down -

Football is about results these days not creativity , Where you are in your table reflects everything now ,who you can buy , who you can sell etc etc and not how good you pass the ball . I love football, but yes there are a few boring teams and a few boring matches but i love footy ,.... its a funny ole game :D:D

I don't think you watch Liverpool play regularly tbh. If you did, you would acknowledge in the latter stages of last season Liverpool arguably played the best football last season. They scored goals for fun.

You brought up the game last Sunday against Spurs to back up your argument, a Spurs team that is arguably one of the biggest pressers in the league. So I'll forgive Rafa in that case for being "cautious".

On topic, personally I don't to like to say that any team plays badly. Some teams put nine men behind the ball because in truth, they'd be off their head to play "attacking" football because they'd be butchered.

Football has always been about results.
The debate is whether playing attractive football is more effective than direct football.

Liverpool boring? Maybe a few yrs ago, but certainly not these days...last season - goals flying in from all angles, late comebacks (Portsmouth away comes to mind)...always goal threats, gave United one hell of a run for their money....boring absolutely not!
