    That Cleveland show is horrific.

He was always a shit character anyway.

If anyone was going to have a spin off it should have been Old Man Herbert with Pedo Bear as his sidekick.

    Mashed potatoes are great.

Peel them, boil them, drain them then put them back in the pot on the heat for a minute to get the rest of the water off.

Then mash them with nothing added.

then add butter, real butter, not some flora crap, salt and pepper and a dribble of milk, mash again.

    Mash them well, no lumps!

Then stick the pot back on the heat for another minute or so, stirring the mash with a wooden spoon.

    De-fooking-lish

You forgot the roasted Garlic and Spring Onions.

I probably will, 27% discount, bang, back of the net!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,608 ✭✭✭Spud83

No really don't see me having a need for it. I have the phone and ipod for quick internet access and a laptop for more than that.

    Just seems pointless to me.

As for eBooks or whatever. I really hope that doesn't take off. I don't want the printed word to die. Fine for magazines or newspapers but not books.

Oh god, the ipad, so pointless.

    ipad_vs_notebook.jpg

Unless you genuinely need to use a computer while walking about it's a waste of money.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

That iPad no doubt will cost more than a laptop here.

You see, you're missing the major point of it. As an example, last year I had to buy a new phone. Was choosing between an iPhone and the samsung tocco ultra. My thinking was like yours, the tocco ultra did everything the iPhone did but had a slide down physical keypad, space for micro sd card, 8megapixel camera and was cheaper. I chose the samsung. I chose wrong. Because the iPhone is just so nice to use. It does mostly the same stuff but just nicer.

The ipad does much the same as a netbook in general, it's just gonna be nicer and much faster to use. And it's pretty!

Also, for fellow nerds, imagine comics on it!

We'll have to agree to disagree, functionality and cost effectiveness > prettiness in my book

Surely comparing City's first choice striker to United's 3rd choice is a bit wrong...

If he made one with Tevez and Rooney then maybe I'd take it seriously, but then he'd lose that one wouldn't he?

It's comparing an unwanted striker to the person he was replaced by. Simple really.

Tevez played a lot more last season than Owen did this season. If playing 50 games including starting the CL final is seen as being unwanted then I wonder what it's like to be wanted

He wasn't utilised correctly and this season has proven what he can do when given the opportunities he deserves. And if he can do so well with little ol City imagine what he could've done with a good side.

Rooney is better than him imo, so Tevez was always going to be second choice to him at United, and Tevez doesn't function anywhere near as well as a second choice player - he needs to be playing constantly to be at his best.

    Anyway, back off topic...

Shutter Island out this week, looking forward to it, though I reckon I may find Di Caprio's accent in it grating.

    Watched Avatar yesterday.

First impressions were it was ok but no way was this thing ever going to win a Best Picture Oscar.

Seems like it cost too much to be honest. Internet is saying about $300m to make then about another $100m on promotion

I agree though, very underwhelming plot

Gonna go with "The Blind Side" the one Sandra Bullock won the Oscar for.

Amazingly this film only made $500,000 outside the US!

I never even heard of it before the Oscars.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,455 ✭✭✭anplaya

any one seen shutters island yet?wud ye recommend it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,797 ✭✭✭✭JPA

Blind Side - Alright, watchable but nothing special
Avatar- really enjoyed the 3D and effects, plot was meh, but if you didn't see it in 3D it's wasted on you.
Hurt Locker - Good alternative look at war but I dunno, quite a poor plot I thought.

    Precious - :(

Ah titanic on an alien planet with smurfs . . .

Dont normally care who wins what oscar but I was glad that it didnt win . .

It was a cartoon . . I felt like I should of brought my PS3 joypad into the cinema!

Awful unoriginal story, poor dialogue, weak characters, predictable ending . . If there was no CGI it would of been completely useless. I will shock many by saying I thought it was no better then 2012. .
