Knob - jockey (I hope the personal abuse rules don't apply to crappy musicians...)

One of the best videos of all time? How? Absolutly nothing original or inventive about the video.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

You have to be very careful with what you share, it's fully traceable. I prefer usenet myself.

I acquire stuff all the time, I acquire movies, films, software, internet access, and even my TV all the time.

And before some musician comes along and says "oh I'm a musician in a struggling band, people who download illegally are taking money out of the industry, and stopping record companies in investing in bands like mine", I'm a software developer and I acquire software, if I don't care about my industry I sure as hell don't give a **** about yours.

How much of the 12-20 quid that a CD costs does the artist see?

    a quid? two?

I'd pay a quid or two to the artist directly for their work if I could, but I can't, so I don't want to give a tenner or more to the marketing companies.

    Fúck 'em.

If the artists were that good, their music would spread by word of mouth and people could buy it from them directly.

I used to record songs off the radio in the 80s, what's the difference?

Couldn't agree with that more. Record labels worldwide had an absolutely massive opportunity a few years ago to jump on the digital bandwagon, by say asking customers to pay a fixed monthly rate to download an unlimited amount of music, but they decided to be greedy, and have essentially completely lost that market.

Most bands get less than 10% from record sales anyway, most of their money is gotten from gigs and merchandise, that's why I'll glady go to a show and purchase a tshirt if the band play well.
