Flying out there tonight with a few mates. Week in Ayia Napa and the game so all in all should be an enjoyable week.

Was over there for the infamous 5 - 2 beating aswell but definatly alot more confident this time around. Was a serious session last time even when we got hammered so just praying for a win this time because it will be mental!!

Why are people calling for Andy Reid to be recalled to the squad all the time? What about the likes of Keith Fahey, Chris McCann and Rory Delap? All are better options imo and are getting regular games for their clubs.

As for this game, Ireland to win 2-0 for a change.

Who gave the excuse? I bet he could have phrased it differently and said "There weren't enough business class for the suits and the players, so all the suits got one and then we had a little chat about which of the players we liked the best and then gave them business class seats".

Jokers indeed. As far as I'm concerned, I think all football fans and non-gobshítes will agree, let the players fly on a players plane with them and the staff only on board. Every gets the comfort and privacy they need and don't have the irritation of idiot old geezers in suits pretending to be your friend.

It's hardly like wanting a seat down the back of the bus! It's more like "I'm a professional athlete who has to play a top level football match in 2 days. I'd appreciate it if I could be as comfortable as possible whilst cooped up on an airplane for 3+ hours so that I can be as well rested and prepared for the match."

The fool to blame for all this is not Delaney but Ray Tracey, who organizes all the FAI travel.

He was on Saturday Sport on RTE radio 1 a few weeks ago talking about organizing the travel and all that and how professional it was etc, but now he can't even count the seats on a plane

He was also going on about how wonderful Saipan was as a venue and how he was 110% and still is 110% behind Mick on that whole matter.

Edit : Actually Ray probably was more concerned about filling the seats with the sycophants who pay his company above and beyond the odds just to travel with the team.

Jzz "some of the players were in economy" not all of them, the players should be walking around as much as possible anyway to avoid deep vein thrombosis .. .

Back to the game. Any away game for us is always frought with problems. Cyprus can be a turning point I hope. I figure we will score alright so it down to not sitting back and letting them come at us or imploding again. I cant see this happening as in fairness to Trap he is a past master at the 1-0 win. Also as we saw in the Italy game he took Keogh out of the equation when it wasnt working.

I think 1-0 or 2-1 to Ireland. A draw is not the end of the world but the win gives us hope and hopefully gets the monkey off our back.

The other two group games should also be watched closely Italy should beat Georgia away but the manner of the victory will be interesting. Also if Bulgaria drop any more points at home to Montenegro then that could be that and combined with 3 points for us in Cyprus the runner up spot should be within our control

Also Italy Bulgaria on Wed night might confirm us as runners up or set up a table topper game with Italy

I don't understand how people can compliment our defense, we haven't kept a clean sheet in the last 7 games and have conceded 11 goals in that time. The last time we did keep a clean sheet was against Cyprus at home in a game we probaly should have conceded in. I have zero confidence in us keeping Cyprus scoreless in Nicosia and so I think we need to score twice at the very least.

Seriously I think the players should be given the government jet and the managers should go on a chartered economy flight half way around the world. However in this case it was clearly some admin fu*k up. even if we make it to the world cup, would it not be such a shame that it is with this group of players as opposed to other times we have failed to qualify but probably with a better squad? the full backs and central midfield is just so weak! i reckon, our strikers, wingers, keeper are all of a good level, but how can you really hope to compete with that central midfield! Hopefully steven reid gets fit again soon, but even if he does, how long will he last?! i dont want to dwell on the andy reid situation, but he would be exactly the type of player we need against cyprus, great at set pieces and can unlock a defence with one killer pass!

It's the fact that for most people the absolute abject incompetence of these arseholes only comes to light when the National Team is playing, and even at those times, there sometimes doesn't even be any actual issues.

Week after week after week, fúck up after fúck up, the people who follow the LoI are subjected to these clowns. If I made a list of all the complete FUBARs they are responsible for I'd be here all week.
