Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Laptop still slow after trying all the usual tricks

I've an old laptop that's running really slow. Spec is 1.7 GHz, 1 GB RAM with Windows XP. I've done the usual msconfig and turned off everything from start-up, as well turning off a bunch of service (such as remote access and un-needed things like that).

But the laptop still takes ages to boot up, starting firefox takes all day to load up. Any ideas what else I could do to get this thing running better?

    Run Spybot & Ccleaner
    Should give you some results

Also the obvious, another stick of Ram

Attempt booting from safemode. If safemode is running spiffy - then its something you ate.

In msconfig on the first page try diagnostic mode (turns off everything but the essentials) If that doesn't do it look in your events (ctrl panel admin tools)

Nothing beats a format and re-install!

Had the same problem. Dumped FF and moved to Chrome. Never looked back.
