Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

When in commander mode, the built in flash has to fire in order for the off camera flashes to work wirelessly. The pop-up flash basically serves as a communicator for the remote flashes.

The power of the pop-up flash in commander mode is pretty weak. In most situations you won't be able to notice the flashes influence. It only begins to become noticeable when you're photographing close to your subject.

You need to change the settings of the built-in flash.

When you select Commander mode, it shows you the settings for three flashes: Built in flash; Group A; and Group B.

Change the Built in flash setting to "--" (instead of TTL or M). This setting means that the flash fires to trigger the off-camera flashes, but then stops early so that it doesn't provide any light during the actual exposure. Given that this all happens in micro-seconds, you probably won't notice any difference to the naked eye.

whoops better not say anything I thought D90 Commander was some pictures of some new fangled action man upgraded and re-released to the current crop of kids..... damn wondered what they were going to do to improve on classice features like "eagle eyes" ...... Oh the days of flicking the lever on the back of the head towards your friend's action man saying spotted you then taking him out "Bam ..Bam Bam your dead..... ok lets go slog some apples......"
