Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I tried to buy a samsung led lcd tv from amazon last night,
but they won't ship to Ireland. WTF.

The same tv in didhardleynormalpcworld and it is 300 euro extra. WTFx2. Recession me hoop.
I will support local retailers, if they don't try to rape me on the price.

We are thinking of going up North, to buy the tv, but don't have any local knowledge, which shops do you guys use?

Already know of the good people at richersounds.ie

What tv model are you looking for out of interest? You say you know about Richersounds. They are extremely competitive on price to be fair, pity that they wont ship a lot of tvs if they are in demand.

Declared interest - I work for Richer Sounds!

    T & Zonda,

Whilst the .com & .co.uk site has loads of TV that they don't ship - we always try to bend the rules if we have stock or if we can at all ship especially for Boardies.

Just drop me a line if there is a particular TV that you are interesetd in and we will let you know if we have it, if we can ship it, and if not what alternatives there are out there.

    Thanks as ever,

    John Mc

I tried to buy this panel
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=480694

but I'm also curious as to how the above compares with this non-led panel
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=477829

Is the led panel worth the 50% premium?

    This philips is interesting
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=490101

And this sony was recommended to me, but i've heard sony is lagging the competition
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=440200

who makes the best these days, for less than 1500, about 40" panel?

Hi John, You are supposed to be a knowledgeable guy,!! I am looking to get a 46"plus tv. I am seated aprox 13' from tv at present.(40" samsung R7) and tv looks smallish. I am connected to sky satelite thru skyhd, hdmi to tv. I watch mainly sd as hd chanels are limited. I do not have bluray but intend to get a player, i would not watch a lot of dvd's. The sound on the tv is not that important as I am connected to surround sound. What options and how much? Thanks Aidan

www.hdtvtest.co.uk. They have reviewed all those sets, except the philips

See this thread about that though!

    @Jake38,

If you want to ask Richersounds for a price or other sale related info, please post your query on the Richersounds Forum here, Richersounds or any other retailer or their representatives) are not allowed to transact business directly with Boardies on this forum.

    Thanks,

    Ritz.

    Thanks for that.
Are hdtvtest affiliated with any of the manufacturers, e.g. sony?

hdtvtest recommend the 40" sony kdl40w5500, which is 100hz,
there is the 40z5500 at 200hz, which is half as much again in price.
    but is it worth it?

while the kdl40w5500 and kdl40z5500 are the most popular,
would it be wise to assume this model kdl-46w5500, is just as good, but bigger?
