Microphone for Alto Saxophone

I am a beginner and I want to buy a reasonable microphone to record my alto saxophone playing. How much should I spend and what mic should I buy. I have no difficulty using second hand products as long as they work. I would want a mic you can plug directly into my laptop with no amplifier required.
