Faking It - The 'It' Shoe.

    Hi Everyone,

    The Irish Examiner had a good piece on the rise of counterfeit and copy-cat shoe websites on the 17th of this month.

    As a lot of people are probably aware, there's been a huge increase in the number of rogue websites online trying to sell fake versions of 'it' shoes such as Louboutins.

    I thought I'd share some of the article with you with you, to prevent any of you getting ripped off. Some of you might have considered buying a pair of fancy shoes for yourself, or for a friend, online, so here's hoping you'll be able to spot what's genuine from what's junk! No one wants to be conned, especially during a recession where money isn't exactly free flowing.

    I hope this helps ;
    Sham sites bearing names similar to that of a designer are set up often with celebrity photos, a 'who's online' visitor counter, endless payment methods, assurances of authenticity and a limited stock number to create that must-have buzz. Look closer at the fine print and you'll often see a host of grammatical copy errors and money-back guarantees with shady double-binds...

    Some sites have obviously incurred the wrath of the original christianlouboutin.com which announces on its own website: "The official website of Christian Louboutin exists under the following addresses: www.christianlouboutin.com and www.christianlouboutin.fr. At present, we do not operate an e-commerce on this website. All other websites with the name of CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN are illegal and may sell counterfeited products. We invite you to check the list of our worldwide stockists in the 'Our Boutiques' section of the site to verify the list of our official retailers...

    Spot the copy-cat
      Crooked or uneven heel seam
      Shabby stitching
      Stitching does not match the colour of the shoe
      Cheap plastic heel base
      Cheaply attached inner lining
      Evidence of glue along the edges
      Leather that smells of plastic or chemicals
      Inaccurate sizing
      Dodgy monogramming - reversed adjoined Chanel 'C's or Louis Vuitton 'LV'
