Why do people say such things?

ok first of all. im just back from playing 2/3 nlhe in the Crown casino in oz and am still gobsmacked by what ive just witnessed. I was playing for less than two hours on this table and during this time the same guy got dealt aces 9 times and kings 4 times!!! :eek: Im sorry if this is a big nothing but at the time (and now) it seemed actualy astonishing!! I would not have believed it unless i saw it for myself. Less than two hours..anybody seen better?

N.B, This is NOT a bad beat story. Bear with me.

So anyway, i get dealt king queen sooooted in the cut off. my stack is exactly 130 dollars. Player in mid position raises to 14. One caller. I reraise to 40. get called by this player and one other. Flop is a beautiful queen 8 6 rainbow. This guy bets out 20. I want to get everything from him so just raise to 65 instead of pushing for my last 90. He calls. Ace drops on the turn and he says, sorry but im gonna have to go all in..i call of course..River is a ten. He announces two pair so i say thats good. He has ten 8 obviously but anyway this is what i want to know...as he is collecting his pot he turns to me and says...sorry mate but i thought you had a small pocket pair smaller than what was on the board so thats why i called you!!! I mean, du'h wtf?!?!?

Anyway, my question is, why did he say this and people liek this general?? Does he actualy believe what he is saying or is he merely trying to make up some excuse?? Pretty low content huh?? BUt im genuinely curious if people really believe what they are saying half the time at a poker table or if they are really just humming the them to the circus in their head constantly and just randomly making sentences with any words that pop into their heads??

So there you go guys? Do people like this at a poker table actualy believe what they are saying or is it just random nonsense?

Did he shuffle everytime he got the kings and aces lol? Sounds statistically almost impossible!

ya they run 2/3 nlhe in the crown. it is their main game. and yes it does sound impossible. which is why i mentioned it...sorry if you read this and feel it was a complete waste of time by the way...

yes. ipod is a certainty next time. but its something ive noticed alot over the years at poker tables as a dealer and player. some people really say the most stupid things sometimes while trying to explain why they did what they did, alot of the time even contradicting what they have just said with some other nonsense ...if they really believe what they are saying then this worries me.

and yes i will try to sit at his table in future...

if you are referring to me. then no i really am not. ive come to terms with the fact that while im a far better player than the average joe soap i play against i will not make money from the game or else i would be living off it by now so i will merely take my wins as they come and in the mean time take my losses as part of the 'fun'!!!
