Priority disk access

I want to give vlc player higher priority access to disk activities so that let's say i'm using the hard drive excessively that the content i'm playing get's high priority and won't lag. I'm assuming that the priority in task manager is for cpu processing and not disk management or would i be wrong? Does anyone know how to…

Giving the process higher priority should give it disk access ahead of other applications but will realistically probably result in occasional jittering still. You should consider upping the in-memory buffer too if you have a system that has a heavy I/O load.
