Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

Apologies if this has been asked already.

Was interested in a small car, but when i did the mywheels check on it its giving it as a red light as it hasn't been taxed for just over a year. There is a warranty with the car, its nct is valid another 6months, and seems reasonably priced, but would you let the fact that its been sitting up for over a year put you off?

And just because it isn't taxed doesn't mean it was laid up...

There's no tax disc on it so i'd say its accurate alright. I imagine myself it was at a main dealers for a while and is now being sold on. Haven't driven it yet, planning to drop back there tomorrow.

Rubber bushings and brake linings can perish or weaken on cars left lying there. If it was me I'd ask for the car to be NCT'd and if its to early to be NCT'd I get it in writing that they'll replace anything that it fails on.

With bushings your not going to really find out till the NCT or if your a driver that understands cars and can tell while driving.

I know of at least a dozen people who've driven for more than 12 months with no tax on their cars....

I've just taxed one of mine after an 8 month lapse during which time it was driven regularly....completely legally too ;)

So, don't take the absence of tax as an indicator there's anything wrong with a car....

Something about that car makes me think "import". Do you know is it an Irish car? That could explain the lack of tax.
