Funded Training Course for the unemployed - Carlow

    A new training course primarily for the unemployed has been launched in Carlow by Genesis Business College. Part funded by Carlow Kilkenny Skillsnet, the course offers 2 minor FETAC Level 6 awards which in conjunction with subsequent studies can lead to a major FETAC level 6 six award – Advanced Certificate in Management.

    Intended Audience:
    The course is aimed at those currently unemployed who desire to improve their formal educational requirements. If is designed for individuals looking to gain qualifications and knowledge in a comprehensive listing of management skills. Whether previous working within a private or commercial sector, this course will enable students to gain theory, practical and legal aspects of management training.

    This course is part-funded by Carlow Kilkenny Skillsnet.

    Entry Requirements
    ·Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent.
    ·21 years or over.
    ·Previous 3rd level education achievements are desirable.


    Exemptions
    Students who may have already completed FETAC modules may enrol for exemptions.

    Course Details

    Students will be initially required to complete the following two modules for which funding has been approved. The first two modules are part of a pilot programme.
    Module 1 - Entrepreneurial Studies – Lecture based
    ·Identify the Key process for successfully marketing a product/service
    · Appreciate the integral role of finance in an enterprise venture
    · Recognise the critical importance of good marketing & business plan for a small enterprise
    · Appreciate the processes which transform an idea into an opportunity
    · Understand the options available in state and private support services

    Module 2 - Advanced Spreadsheet Methods – Blended Learning
    · Acquire an in-depth knowledge of spreadsheet software
    · Develop advanced worksheet management skills
    · Develop the skills of personal initiative and resourcefulness
    · Develop good work practises in the use of computer, printer and materials.


    Registration: Closing Date 11th September 2009

    Duration: 12 week Course with lectures 1 night per week from week of 28th September 2009 in the Carlow Gateway Centre. Spreadsheet methods module is delivered using a flexible self-paced method which can be studied over day time including Saturday mornings and Monday night at the Genesis Business College in Carlow.
