Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So the 2nd leg of the biggest qualifying tie is nearly here, match is on itv, and Rte 2 :P kicking off at 7:45.

Really looking forward to this match but on the other hand, really devastated that these two have been drawn against eachother
as I am a supporter of both clubs (mainly Arsenal).

I expect Arsenal line up like this as Arsenal have United at the weekend:

    Almunia
    Sagna
    Gallas----Vermaelen
    Clichy
    Song Billong

    Diaby
    Denilson
    --Bendtner
    Eduardo
    Arshavin--

Not too sure on the Celtic line up so just going to go with this

    Boruc
    Hinkel
    Caldwell----Loovens
    Fox

    Mcgeady---Brown---Donati----Maloney

    Fortune
    Mcdonald

May The Best Team Win biggrin.gif.

Nguemo is suspended so either Crosas or Donati most likely

N'Guemo is suspended. Anyone have any ideas who will replace him??

Hope Ramsey, Wilshere and Merida can all get a decent run out tonight

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,209 ✭✭✭Redzer7

Yeah i'd love to see them three play well and another goal fest from Diaby :P.

Hopefully Celtic will show some ambition in this match after their dismal display last week, but either way the result is a foregone conclusion. Would love to see Arshavin up his game tonight, has had a quiet start to the season so far. I'd assume a midfield trio of Song, Denilson and Diaby with Bendtner on the left, Arshavin on the right and Eduardo through the middle.

Anyways, no chance in hell Celtic winning. Will they park the bus again like last week or show some ambition this time?

Brown played on the right in the 1st leg so he'll move in the centre. Maybe Mowbray will go 4-4-2 now but I hope not. Crosas, Donati, Brown, McGeady, Maloney and Fortune in midfield and attack for me. I know Donati was poor in the 1st leg but I don't think Celtic would get too much possession with a 2 man midfield.

Is there any point in them parking the bus? Surely they need to come out and score early?

Can't really see anything but Arsenal going through though

    :D

    3-1 to the Gunners.

If parking the bus allows Celtic to have 46% possession and the ball in the oppositions half 47% of the time against a world class team then I'll happily take that. Statistics aren't everything but in this case they are. "parking the bus" is the wrong term to use for how Celtic played last week. Outclassed more accurate.

2-0 to the Arsenal, Arsenal will dominate possession once again and Celtic will struggle to create chances imo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 101 ✭✭RedivideR

Hopefully Celtic do come out attacking to win the game, that way we will undoubtably hit them for a couple on the break :D

Also if Arsenal do score in the first half i would expect/hope that Merida and Wilshere get plenty of second half action...

Last week I said a two nil away win for Arsenal and a 4-0 home win for them. I should really go for that bet. Have a feeling they are going to score very early and that's curtains for Celtic. Diaby is going to have a great game and I'm hoping to see both Arshavin and Eduardo cause havok.

    It's also being shown live on RTE2 Redzer7. :)

No matter how the match develops nobody tell me Celtic have "parked the bus". That team is way too attacking to go out with that mentality. In fact I'd say only the likes of Man Utd would play 4 attackers in the Emirates and a central midfielder that can't really tackle.

That looks too much like Wenger thinks this tie is over.
I won't be suprised now if Celtic get an early goal and there's a decent game on the cards

    Wheres Bill on Rte's coverage.

love the fact donati is playing. played poorly against us last match.

an early goal really could set us back esp with that midfield.

however i fully expect eddie and bendy to score ... they seemed to have a good understanding in matches they play together.

    come on you gunners!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,209 ✭✭✭Redzer7

Gallas and Diaby to score again tonight :P:pac:.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Given their matches so far this season, its probably more like this, no?

    Almunia
    Sagna ---- Gallas -- Vermaelen
    Clichy
    Song

    Eboue
    Denilson
    -- Bendtner
    Eduardo
    Diaby --

With Bendtner / Diaby pressing high against the opposition FBs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,139 ✭✭✭Wreck

Surely Arsenal are going to continue with the new formation?

    ___________Diaby_______Song________Denilson_______

    ____Eboue_______________________________Eduardo

    ___________________Bendtner_______________

Edit: Backing Arsenal to win this easily btw, 2+ goals imo.

Jesus Christ call this a match thread?! The teams are

Arsenal: Almunia, Sagna, Gallas, Vermaelen, Clichy, Eboue, Song Billong, Denilson, Diaby, Eduardo, Bendtner.

Subs: Mannone, van Persie, Ramsey, Silvestre, Wilshere, Arshavin, Traore.

Celtic: Boruc, Hinkel, Caldwell, Loovens, Daniel Fox, Maloney, Donati, Scott Brown, McGeady, McDonald, Fortune.

Subs: Zaluska, Naylor, Samaras, Flood, McCourt, Killen, O'Dea.

urgh Arshavin on the bench, was hoping to see him have a good game tonight as the last few he's played he hasn't been the best and he set me back 11mill in ff ;) lol. Anyway my two cents is that if Celtic dont score early then it'll probably be about 3-0 Arsenal :)

I don't know feel Celtic might have one of those mad european nights, also back Mcgeady to be an anytime scorer at 7-1 so come on the hoops.

    Nice line up by Wenger.
Glad to see he's sticking to the 4-3-3.

The arrival of Vermaelen seems to have totally revitalised Billy Gallas, apart from the goals this season, hes looked so much more dominant and assertive at the back.

Likewise Diaby, actually, never rated him before, but hes looked great tonight and the same against Portsmouth.

Total dive by Eduardo, never touched him.
