Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Alcohol and drug policies in Ireland sounds quiet broad, lol.
I've physics and maths as modules and a few chemistry modules as elective.

Hours: One day I have only two lecture, but I guess when it comes to workload nearly everyone is the same. If you have 12 modules including electives that's between 100 and 125 hours multipulied by 12 a year which is 1200 & 1500 hours a year between lectures, tutorials, labs and so-called self-directed study. If your thinking like I'm thinking we have around 7260 free hours on our hands during the year.

Irish culture and society is a great module, fairly handy too.

I took Recent papers in Neuroscience and Health Psychology as electives.

Well I did it a couple of years ago + didn't enjoy it, granted I'm a physio + we all had to do it + its not like the other stuff we do! AFAIK they show videos now in the class + there's questions in the exam on them but they don't tell you when they're on to make you go to lectures. Don't remember much else, wasn't awful but like fairly boring stuff imo.

Modules are the specific area of a subject. So Brain & Behaviour is a psychology module.

Electives are modules, that can be taken outside of the course you've selected. You know all that Horizons talk...thats just electives.

Moral Philosophy is the hardcore one,be prepared to put a lot of effort in it,and feel lost in translation on the way.. IS10020 is fine, fairly manageable, but I found it utterly boring. But you can still try ;)

Structural Engineering with Architecture, 3rd year, with 10 cores and 2 electives:

    1:
ARCT30030 History & Theory of the Designed Environment IV
    CVEN30040 Design of Structures
CVEN30100 Theory and Design of Structures III
    EEME30040 Professional Engineering (Finance)
    MAPH30160 Mathematics for Engineers VI
    + CVEN30060 - Hydraulics (elective)

    2:

    CVEN30120 Structure and Form
    EEME30030 Building Energy Systems
    MAPH30170 Numerical Methods for Engineers
    + CVEN30110 - Transportation Engineering (elective)

What was that again about "easy electives"?

It's challenging, but very interesting if you are into philosophy, and ethics in particular. Infact, this course is not on ethics, but on meta-ethics i.e. the stuff that comes before ethics and questions the sheer possibility of ethical questions. Some texts from Kant on Influence on the will, and Mackie and Nagel on Subjectivism and Objectivism might appear to you extraordinary painstaking and you'll simply muddle through, but some are fine and relatively easy and interesting to read. The exam is not that easy as well, and they'll make you learn at least 26 technical definitions by heart (oh,believe me,it gets very technical in the end) but I still managed to score a B+ for it. Altogether if you feel like taking it, and you are not afraid of some work, definitely go for it! Tutors and lecturers are sound as well!
