Im not long into this problem but im getting stumped.

Already rolled back recent changes to the registry

    Already Reinstalled IE8

Already Reset IE8 Settings. Cleared Temp Files.

Matched FF's connection settings with IE8

Reinstalled Shockwave Flash, a fix suggested by another website.

... I just dunno wtf is going on.

Its my bosses machine. And he prefers IE8. Either way, its not good if the browser is not functioning. It doesnt load pages. I just get white.

    The statusbar goes from

    Connecting to xxxx....

    Website found waiting for reply

    Downloading from xxxx...

    Done.

Its just all ****ing blank. A bit like my patience :pac::D:mad::):(

Security software does this, I'm guessing Norton is installed?

Why not try using IE version 7? or even firefox?

try ie in it's safe mode (and Ie in safe mode with networking)

    # Go to Start > Run
    # Type iexplore -extoff

FF has it's own DNS cache - so check nslookkup and all the dns caching stuff
stick on opera - if it dont' work then a windows problem else an ie one

    banhammer.

The next person to say something as unhelpful as this again, ima do some backseat modding, and steal cushion's banhammer.

No, Norton is Not Installed. Yes, if it was my own machine, I install Norton on it. I install the hell out of it. Norton is a fine commercial product. And it is in no way involved in this build.

Anticipating this kind of mundane response I spelled it out pretty clearly I thought, in the OP, that it is NOT my machine, I am NOT the end user and THE END USER prefers IE. Firefox IS installed on the machine, I HAVE HIM using it in the interim, but it is not a good idea to just leave IE as is; we have no idea what the problem is, and it could be a symptom of a larger problem. I would like to get to the bottom of it.

    I'll give this a shot.

I know in FF its a one step process but in IE do you know where to clear the cache?
