I am a wheelchair user who is hoping to repeat my leaving cert and I hope to do classical studies as one of my subjects. I recently contacted the Institute who informed me that there building was not suitable for wheelchairs. Does anybody know of any schools in either Dublin city or north side that may be suitable.

Note that any school has a legal obligation to provide a 'reasonable accomodation' for you to access their services at nominal cost, under the Equal Status Acts.

It might be worth checking out is any part of their building accessible? If it is the Institute on Leeson St that you are thinking about, then I know their front entrance on the street is up a number of steps, but I think they have a rear entrance via a laneway.

You will probably find that VEC schools are more likely to be accessibly than private or parish schools.

    Pobailscoil Rosmini
    Gracepark Road
    Drumcondra
    Dublin 9

They have a long history of dealing with students in wheelchairs at secondary level, so I would imagine they would be able to accomodate and adult learner

Forgot to mention, Classical Studies is on their list of adult courses too.
