28-08-2009 1:23am#1A new discovery has shown that a 40million year old bird had black shimmering feathers. The feathers were not found alongside any bones, meaning we do not know which species they were from. However, based on said feathers we can calculate that the bird was a bit bigger than a pigeon.

The fossil was found in the Messel Pit, which continues to be a fossil bearing treasure trove.0
