Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got a quote a couple of weeks ago from aon for 950euro for insurance. Called back today to get it and it had gone up to 1044euro. I told her to change my address from Waterford to Naas. She asked me would I be using the bike in Dublin often, I said yes, she told me the quote would change to 1523euro. Keep in mind that I have a full licenece and the Aon level 2 assesment and the bike is restricted.

Factory restricted? If not Aon don't recognise it and your bike stays in the insurance group that the full power one is in.

So the question becomes 'What's the bike?' and 'What age are you?'

Give Adelaide a bell. I changed from Aon recently and saved 500 euro.

Yeah, time to do the ring around. See if you can play them off each other.

I always want to say no when they ask 'would I be using the bike in Dublin often' but I just know it could bite me in the ass if I did.

Adelaide is the answer. But if you say your bike is worth more than €10,000 EUR they won't insure you.

    ..that's what I'm wondering too........

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Technically irrelevant, because the insurance will revert to whatever the standard ST1100 grouping is unless the bike is factory restricted (which it isn't).

The entirely different legal issue of whether the insurance is valid because the bike isn't restricted is something the OP will have to sort out with each potential insurer.

Also, OP, don't lie about not going to Dublin. The situation is bad enough not riding restricted, but found riding a bike you shouldn't be riding, in a location you shouldn't be in will make any small oopsy into a nightmare.

    Hi guys
Just gonna ask a couple of questions here.
I'm a bit hazy regarding this restriction business.
The op says the bike is restricted but not factory restricted.
Aon only recognise factory restrictions-doe this mean he is not insured even though aon accepted the policy and I'm presuming the op can prove restriction is in place.
Surely aon a) shouldnt accept his business or
    b) honour his policy in the event of a claim

OP just how does a pan cope with restriction?

Yes the bike is restricted, I wouldn't take the chance if it wasn't, I just wouldn't enjoy riding.

I put this question to Aon and they told me that it was a legal issue and not an insurance issue. That the restriction was to do with my licenece and not my insurance. So if the bike wasn't restricted then I wouldn't have a licenece so my insurance would be nul and void. To be honest they asked me nothing about the restriction, I had to ask them. Looks like I'll have to fork out 1500euro for insurance which drives me mad.

I don't know how it copes with the restriction, I'm not getting it until Wed, I hope it's good, otherwise it'll have been 1 of the biggest waste of money in history.

Would a Pan come in under the power to weight ratio? On a phone so hard to check.

    Did you try Quinn?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,660 ✭✭✭Blitzkrieger

I'm with Carole Nash and they seem to always beat a quote you've got elsewhere. They sent me out a renewal quote that was higher than last year's despite me having an extra year's no-claims. I got quotes off AON and Quinn direct that were 300 cheaper  Rang Carole Nash and they were suddenly able to quote me for less than Quinn. I added personal injury and leathers cover and still ended up almost 250 below their original quote. Shower of chancers.....
    Adelaide is the answer.

Took them a week to ring me back with a quote. A ****ing week! Who waits that long for a quote?

Strange one that, I got one straight away over the phone. They are the best especially if you have a couple of bikes.
