Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

LOL watch the replay he was diving over the legs, so by your logic if any player rides a tackle where it cleary is a foul then its a free against him for diving so a player has to allow himself to be hacked down and take the impact??? Come on

Stop your nonsense please. He wasn't riding any tackle, he fell to the ground, that is how he ended up on the ground. If he was riding the tackle, he'd still be on his feet and trying to get the shot in, or holding it up for other players running it.

But he dived to the ground

Arsenal seem to have lost it since the penalty, shame

LOL seriously he kicked the ball ahead and invited the keeper to foul him, the keeper did so its a penalty, anyone who thinks that wasn't a penalty needs to seriously learn how this game works imo

Exactly how many times have Stevie G or Frankie Lamps done something similar, he invited the tackle, Almunia obliged so peno.

Are any of ye denying that

    (a) Almunia made contact with Rooney?
    (b) Almunia didnt make any contact with the ball?
    (c) it was in the box

Love to hear your reasons why any of the above doesnt constitute a peno

    chain off events

    Rooney thumps ball
    Rooney dives
    Alumis makes contact

the first foul is the 2nd step, end of discussion.

Almunia made contact after Rooney was in the air diving to the ground. It's a dive, he's a cheat. Just like Eduardo on Wednesday, This needs to be stamped out

are denying that a dive isn't a bookable offence?

are you denying that Rooney started to go down before any contact was made?

Gerrard isn't playing in this match. If Gerrad did what Rooney just did, then he would be a cheat. And yes, Gerrard has done it before, Atletico for one

I dont support any English premier league team at all, I have no interest in who wins or loses and in my opinion Rooney dived.

He was going away from goal, saw the keeper coming out, knocked the ball away and proceeded to fall to the ground, he was on his knees when Almunia made any contact with him.

That said it was a very professional dive and would have looked like a penalty to the ref (although the kicking of the ball away should have gave the dive away in my opinion)

Want to see one more goal.

It's pathetic really. There is no pro-United conspiracy among the fa and all the refs and officials.

    Yes, both of them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 747 ✭✭✭WillieCocker

Was the penalty a fair call?

It was if you consider the player touching the ball first and the keeper catching his legs with his hands, not getting near the ball.

Frankly, Arsenal have bottled this. They were in complete control until Rooney got that lucky penalty. After that, they just stopped playing football.

Nope, he didn't take his feet, Rooney chose to end up on the ground. It was Rooney's decision and Rooney's alone.
