Volvo s40 diesel engine query

    Is there anyone on here who knows the 03 volvo S40 diesel engines at all?

    I'd like to know what the valve-like object is in the attached pics....and if anyone knows why there would be oil spray around that area.

    Not really sure about the volvo diesels but afaik they used renault engines
    for years and afaik the are using psa engines know ..thats the 1.6 diesels...:)

    To me that looks an some sort of actuator/butterfly valve on the turbo to engine intake...:confused:
    Sorry but not sure about the oil spray....But afaik there is always a certain amount of oil mist passing thru this pipe to engine intake.
