Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't know of anyone in the city but Steve, stcstc, would probably do it, though it will get expensive taking it back every couple of months. You are probably better off buying a Calibrator yourself.

    thanks cabansail :)

afraid i don't have the money for my own one at the moment, getting married next year so every spare penny is going towards the wedding. but maybe i'll get one as a christmas gift or as a spending splurge next year after the big day!

If it's a laptop with an LCD then you won't need to re-calibrate it; AFAIK it's only on CRT displays where the colour temperature of the tube changes over time that they need to be re-done every so often.

Strange Timing but just saw your thread while downloading a programme from a link in this months Photo Plus magazine!!The magazine comes with a tutorial on how to calibrate your monitor and has a DVD that goes through it too!!!

It's the September issue so if you are looking for some info on this you should check it out :)

true, I can actually see mine work everytime I turn on the desktop, as all the programmes are kicking in the colour on the screen changes in front of me! Which reminds me I do need to do this again soon.

If you PM me in the next 2/3hours I can bring in my spyder3 to peoples photography (Stephens Green, Dublin) tomorrow and you can calibrate your laptop in the back of my car if you like... :)

I wouldn't pay to get it done. There are plenty of people here who can do it for you. Including myself. Just say the word.

lol i wonder how my fiance would take to me suggesting this!!

sorry i missed all these kind offers yesterday, but i was off and away into town before i saw most of them.

i'd forgotten the people's photography exhibition was on this weekend, now i'm a bit peeved cause i think i'm coming down with flu and i feel crap :( would probably be a bad idea to go in and spread it to photographers all over the country!

i'm based in dundrum, not far from the village centre. when i'm feeling better i might take someone up on a free calibration offer :D i think my screen is a little off, i realised it when i stuck this photo up on flickr and loads of people commented on the "yellow" in it when i really can't see yellow in it at all! i mean there's sunlight, but it's not exactly yellow to my eye.

by way of exchange i bake really really good hazelnut & chocolate cookies, so maybe i can swap a batch for a calibration!

that sounds great, i might just pick up a copy. i have looked at different sites about calibrating and i thought my screen was fairly ok but i recently got a batch of prints done and they're a little off from the colours that i can see on my screen & combined with the response to that flickr photo mentioned above i think it's time to get it done properly :)
