I was in Booterstown station today. Looking on to the mudflats I saw these two birds, like Herons,but smaller,tall legged, all white and a (slightly) curved bill. Had the same 'presence' of a Heron - stalked the water. Can someone tell me what they are - much appreciated if you can.

Probably a Little Egret. Try here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Egret for info.
Possibly a Cattle Egret but generally sightings are recorded more down south.
Edit: Curved Bill might also point to an Avocet but plumage is not all white!

Sounds like Little Egrets - getting as common as Herons these days. I usually see a couple hanging about at Booterstown when I pass on the DART.
