I'm from Isreal but I live in New York.

Most of my girlfriends have been Irish so I have picked up the lingo...amongst other things.

Carlow is the South East, it says welcome to the Sunny South East on the way in. Laois is Midlands.

I am from Wicklow, the good side. ;)

It was a play on words re the North and South Dublin thing.

I was saying I am from midlands (the middle of) Carlow.

But you see, Carlow is very small, so dividing it up into North, Midlands and South is hilarious, I think you will find.

You know a joke is extra funny when you have to explain it :pac:

Well Leinster is were dublin is so you poll could have being which Provinces in Ireland you from .

Yes but I'm from Leinster and I had a feeling that alot of people would be from Dublin. I had a bit of a different motive to starting this tread. I've noticed a leaning towards dublin rather than other parts and I would have liked to put in all the counties but I decided to go for the provinces and add the two major cities. I wanted Dublin seperate so I could see if this slant to the dubs wasn't just in my head.

Spent my early years in Ballyfermot, now live in Palmerstown. I'd always say West Dublin, I think most of my friends do too.

West lets me avoid all the Southside/Northside rubbish.
So in pub terms, that means 'To hell with collar up Leinster Rugby fans, and margarine eating Bohemian FC fans too!'

I will unite with any Dub though if in the presence of the 'GAA people'

The whole Dublin /County Dublin thing is similar in way to say Liverpool .You have Liverpool /Southport/Ormskirk , then the Wirrial on the other side of the river all of which are part of Merseyide . Thing is with Dubliners moving out of the city and country people moving in as they have done in recent years , people will in General will always go for were they were born and raised and how it's known to them regardless of were they now live .
