I saw this too and actually thought it was a p*ss take. Im sure its going to be cringe worthy. But hopefully i'll be proven wrong and it turns out to be a good programme

Judging by the type tv3 has done before, ill guess itll all just be cctv clips and newspaper articles likely

You're not confusing this with the new pisstake ad with the Gardai in it are you? :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,938 ✭✭✭deadwood

Hope it's not as hard-hitting as Exposé. I can't handle the grittiness.

"And nigh. Let's go to the rad corpet at last nights premiere at the Red Kye Rynd-abite where Glanda Gilsans eyebrow has aaaall the goss from those boys in blue.

Over to you Glanda - I hear those guys have reeeeelly been putting their noo ooniforms through the mill - and not, like, a broken nail in sight? So, what does the overage Gord do to stay looking so hot when he's rolling arynde the grynde with, basically, criminals, OMG!"

    Ultimate Force ish flashbacks.

    Runs away

The fact this drama is on TV3 can be taken as a good indication that it is utter shyte , given the TV3 propensity for low budgets I'm willing to bet they'll be using a tarted up ' Mr. Whippy' Ice cream van for transporting prisoners and use the directors pet Basset Hound in lieu of a German Shepherd ( ''sure all the elite Garda units have one '' ).

  • Registered Users Posts: 169 ✭✭ste88m

You are taking the p1ss aren't you??

Honestly, the Schnack ad fulfils my Garda related cringe need... :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,135 ✭✭✭fifth

That looks absolutely dire. Please tell me it's a p1sstake.

They cant even get the uniform right, what the hell is on their equipment belts, the pouch on the front looks 60 years old.

Im gonna say that this is definitely a wind up started by someone.
If im wrong, tv3 is worse than i thought if they really have commissioned this tripe as a series.

Its like the bill, only this rubbish is done on a €200 budget,

I have a feeling this is one of those shows where ill probably end up throwing something at the telly while watching it...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 923 ✭✭✭djtechnics1210

It seems its possible there is a show worse than traffic blues after all.....

What was wrong with Ultimate Force?

Pisstake without a shadow. Unless some producer somewhere is unimaginably braindead.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,333 ✭✭✭Zambia

That was the best laugh I have had in ages... cant be true

The fact they are always in the stab vests

The fact they dont even try to hide the Garda car blowing up is a matchbox car.

    The beards

The insanely dangerous levels of Gel used.

The only thing I can belive is the sucide bomber , he was probably forced to watch the pilot and has decide to end it all and take a Matchbox garda car out as well.

"TV3’s first two-part drama series The Guards is shot in documentary style and will focus on three young gardaí who will do anything to secure a conviction."

Seriously, it's real ? We're having a discussion here on if it's just an elaborate and well done piss take. The voice over in the youtube trailer is hilarious.

The 'Zoolander' pout on the guy in the middle is just too much...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 923 ✭✭✭djtechnics1210

They might aswell have put them in village people outfits!!!! The actors must be hard up for work if their willing to work in this "high" budget series.

The close bond between Maeve's Guards, DIARMUID (Emmett J. Scanlan), MALACHY (Chris Patrick-Simpson) and AIDEN (Steven Aldridge), is at the heart of the story, exploring their eventful and sometimes very painful personal lives and the dark side of Dublin through their warmth and humour.

Maeve, Diarmuid, Malachy and Aiden....could you add a bit more cliche to that please?

Is that like "Garda Blue Steelle"

Oh and why is this "The Guards" is it not meant to be "The Gardas" or "The Garda" or event the more apt "low budget ****"

Hey no fair, I've just noticed that their shirts fit:mad::mad:

Next thing their trousers will be the right length too

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 923 ✭✭✭djtechnics1210

I bet this will be as bad as the garda in fair city... They'll do no research and in turn have caution wrong, arrest procedures wrong, in fact everythin wrong and this inturn will yet again miseducate the public on ags. I.e. "i seen it on telly garda that yous have ta be doin blue steel like yer man zookeeper before yous can arrest me and yous also have ta wave a sparkler in the air and sing ymca riiigght or i'll be on to the garda omnibus about yous" Rant over, im off down ta tv3, you'll see me on the news at 6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,468 ✭✭✭Lex_Diamonds

As bad as this looks, at least TV3 arent robbing money directly from my pocket to pay for it!

Lads please tell me this will be available on Youtube ....I cant wait.

I'd love to know what the broadcasters and general society in this country have against the Gardaí tbh. Unfailingly in any "garda" I have seen on any tv station here has been one of two things, (a) a gob****e culchie halfwit or (b) a corrupt greaseball. Why can't we get any sort of decent realistic portrayal, like in other countries? It would go a long long way towards generating and culturing a bit of respect for the force. This tv3 thing looks like a farce tbh.

What up with the suicide bomber...

And what up with the squad car flyin over the Liffey...

The suicide bomber watched the add and thought it was just too much.

The patrol car over the liffey?? Well that was a polis man who just couldnt take more traffic blues type tripe and just drove into the river

Well, with the downturn in the restaurant business lately, some waiters have had to turn to acting to boost their incomes!

  • Registered Users Posts: 98 ✭✭Jeanxx

    Two words. The beards.

Was it Movember when they were shooting this?!!

I'd love to know who the researcher was on the show... Someone who has never heard of a parade obviously!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,084 ✭✭✭eroo

What RTE and TV3 should do is combine forces and make a show called 'An Fuzz Te'. The Garda from Ballykissangel, the dodgy detective from Fair City, 'the Guards' and that one man task force from that RTE show 'Single Handed'. It can be Ireland's own Reno 911. The mockumentary can follow the lads as they patrol Tipp town on the weekends; lewd imagery, corruption, violence, murder... and that's just the lads!

Coming to a licensed tv near you soon..

sure they'll just get two or three dodgy mobile phone videos or lads breakin windows etc and replay them on a loop for 30mins and have a security manager/expert talk about his deadly cctv system he got
