I have a little bit of eczema. Will a tatoo cause it to flare up worse?

Im not planning on getting it near one of the spots im prone to it.

Cheers for the the advice (if any.)

OK - this is only what I have heard - please don't take it as bible, and please get it checked by a reputable artist before you go ahead - just to make sure!!!

I don't believe that eczema causes problems as long as you aren't trying to tattoo over the actual eczema. Having said that, eczema is a chronic allergy, so your artist may choose to do a tiny patch test of ink on you - but I guess that would depend on how bad your eczema is...I don't know of anyone who has had it bad enough to warrant a patch-test but know that some artists recommend it. On the upside, Diprobase (if you use it) can be great for healing tattoos - nearly as good as Bepanthan if you are allergic to that!

    Hope that helps...

A few links to give you some ideas. A lot of the answers relate to tattooing directly over skin suffering with eczema rather than unaffected skin, but some good advice none the less.
