Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Because thanks is not a mark of quality.... just a mark that enough morons agree'd with what one other moron said to click a button.

Our government was elected the same way....

I've started just thanking posts completely at random in random threads to further examine this phenomenon

Yeah, it's pretty tedious searching through all the threads individually though. Somebody should invent a way of displaying them for us - a thanks filter or something.

Just thank the stuff you agree with or find funny.

There's so much paranoia over the system, I mean just because some people thank a person more often than they do other people doesn't mean that they're in cahoots, maybe it means they have a similar sense of humor etc.

Must be easy enough. Around the left-hand side of the front page would be perfect.

Excellent, I would thank you for your assistance with this important research, but that would rather defeat the point I'm afraid. Good to have you on board though
Ooh, ooh, can I be first? :):pac:

No, because then it would not be random and our data would be compromised.

Someone pick a random post, from a random forum on boards and post it here for everyone to thank see if we cant make it the post of the day tomorrow, most random wins. It'll make some randomers day to see his little random little post up there.

    or not

Tut tut tut, if you're gonna try the reverse-psychology-thanks-whore trick you need to throw in a healthy dose of righteous indignation to make it believable, you gotta make us think you really mean it before we will go for the ironic thanking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

As my post is currently Post of the Day, I am the King.

Anyway, you'll find most of the thanks on the first few pages, as the jokes start to run out afterwards....

Ah come on man, you can do better than that! Throw in a few angry faces, obscure references to how the thanks system is just the new karma system and is ruining boards and the place is just full of thankswhores now, a few choice but well selected swear words sprinkled in adds to the effect but you don't want to overdo it or it looks too forced so be careful. Sell it dude, make us believe you! Make us WANT to believe you!

Not another obsession with Thanks thread.

The people who are obsessed with getting Thanks are more interesting than the ones obsessed with not getting thanks.
