whats a pinkeen?

I used to hear my granny talk about catching pinkeens...and its really annoyed me since as to what species she was actually referring too? is it minnow,or sticklebacks or young trout or salmon...any help would be great...its really tormenting me. cheers

Now there's a name I haven't heard in years!.

Pinkeens and stickle backs, the craic we used to have catching those!.

Although OP I'd recommend posting this in the 'Nature and Bird watching' forum, I bet you'll get tonnes of information and stories about catching those there.

I used to catch these guys up the park, but they never lived long. Minnow lived for years .

It`s a Stickleback. Used to catch them as kids.
