Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It was a fun day. I tried many different things, to try to get some very different shots (low angle, reflections, head on, etc). Only 6 races for the day, but it was a lot of fun.

For anyone who can, it's well worth going to. It's only one day each year, and is the only official horse racing meet in the world held on a public beach.

Great set Paul, 2,3 and 4 especially stand alongside the best I've seen, well done.

I admit that I was lucky with #2. Getting three grey horses together in the shot was just by chance.

I was using a two camera setup - 1D MkIII with 300mm f/2.8 plus 1.4x TC and then 40D with 16-35mm f/2.8 lens. I tried to get close shots, and also wide ones, just to make a difference.

There were a lot of photographers around, some international, as well as Sportsfile and Inpho. I didn't meet anyone from boards that I know of. :)

Great shots Paul. Just saw them now. You definitely succeeded in getting "different" angles. Remind me next year and I'll head out with you ;-)

Second one is excellent Paul, last one too gives a good idea of speed. I forgot about it this year, from what your saying Paul it seems to be oversubscribed by Photographers.

I'd say there were 5-6 pro photographers (Inpho, Sportsfile, and other pros that I recognised), 2-3 few very serious photographers (myself included there), and then about 10 or so hobby photographers.

As a photographer, you have fairly good and easy access around the running area, so it isn't that hard to get some good photos.

I've looked at what some of the others produced on the day (Sportsfile, Inpho, etc), and from what they have on their sites, I'm very happy with what I captured.

Just a shame it's only one day a year. I do enjoy photographing the horses, so I must make more of an effort.
