Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Help with speakers to TV connection?

    Hi

New to the board and I'm looking for help. I've just got some Sound Stick II speakers (Hardmon/Kardon) and I want to connect them to my TV (LG). Have a clue but not great at this stuff. Have tested speakers on mp3 and they work fine and easy to connect. With the TV I have tried a number of options but no joy, have got some feedback at times so I know I'm not too far off. The conncection on the speakers is like a normal headphone type which is fine for mps, but the only such connection on the TV does not work (and I have turned off the TV speakers to check). previous speakers I had (creative) worked by connecting the red/white connections but so far have not got these to work. TV is only 8mts old.

    TA

Could you post the TV model number, probably written on a plate on the back which gives the voltage and other specs, then we might have a chance to look up the specs.

If the TV has a headphone socket, then that is likely to be where you should plug in the speakers. You might have to go into a menu on the TV, unless there are dedicated controls on the remote, to adjust the output volume of the headphone socket. this might be set to a low level which might be why it doesn't appear to be working.

Thats for the reply. the TV is an LG 32LG7000. There is an auto output port on the back, this is the port I tried with the speaker connection that works in an mp3 player.

    Ooops!

According to the specs it doesn't have either a 3.5mm headphone socket or audio out RCA sockets:

    http://www.which.co.uk/reviews/lcd-and-plasma-tv/lg-32lg7000/specifications

But there is a way around the problem:

    http://www.solotechnic.co.uk/scart-adaptor-35mm-socket-audio-out-i22680.html

    Here's another sort: http://www.consumer.philips.com/c/cables-connectors/scart-to-stereo-swv2562w_10/prd/ie/

Locally you could try Maplins. Their website lists the RCA type adapter,s at a price.

With the RCA adapter you would of course need a 3.5mm socket to RCA adapter cable as well

I doubt the volume coming out of such an adapter could be adjusted using the TV remote so you would have to use the controls on the SS IIs
