Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Light = easy on the back!

I'm travelling to India tomorrow with a 40L backpack. I'll have to keep it's weight down to about 7kg. If you're gonna be travelling around lots, on and off trains etc, the lighter the bag the better.

I did the Transsib from Russia to China a few years ago, my bag was too heavy and I hurt my back trying to lug the bag on and off the trains. On trains you can't always have the bag on your back because of space restrictions so you end up have to pull it, or carry it in one hand.

If you think you can travel light, I'd recommend doing it.

    Here's a website that might help: http://www.travelindependent.info/whattopack.htm

I've used the Osprey Porter 46 for the past 2 years. It's small and opens right up on the front so that you get a lot of space. Has a few neat pocket areas without having them plastered all over the outside. And i always found it comfortable. Just like tywy said, you'd be better off keeping it light. When you are packing there is always the incentive to throw loads of stuff in. But believe me you'll regret it at times and you'll find out you never needed that much stuff.

go for a bag that zips open and around the front..stuff bags are very annoying for packing and unpacking and if u need to get something out in a hurry. ive read a few reviews on Deuter bags and they seem to be good.

heres a few to give u an idea..

the 55+10 was what i was looking for, but that was for a years travel. month in europe a 40L would be perfect! they are kinda dear tho, im sure other brands do similar styles.

Just picked up this one from nomad travel.

    http://www.nomadtravel.co.uk/catalog/view/berghaus-jalan-60-15?sku=HZS4819

Firstly saw it in the shops in town for €160, then ended up finding it on the net for roughly €100 inc courier delivery (free delivery to ireland). Ordered it last tuesday and got it on friday, great service.

Its also on webtogs.co.uk for the same price

The bag might be a bit big for your needs but you might find something smaller on those sites.
