Thats real nice, what would parts availibility be like for something like that Kevin?

  • Registered Users Posts: 813 ✭✭✭Kevin_Herron

Apart from perhaps obscure pieces of trim (which can be sourced easily in U.S breakers yeards), everything is available for these cars.

    Series III Jaguar XJ

    Hi

I've been looking at one of these with an interest to a Sunday car. It would be my first classic. I've always loved these machines but a few people I've spoken to lately said they were brutally complex and very badly made

    Any thoughts or advice anyone?

    Much appreciated

As it states above, looking for 4no 4stud 14" alloys in good condition to fit a Ford Escort.
Tyres are not important, the older the style the better.

They aren't brutally complex. Biggest problem with them really is rust so if you can find a solid one bodywise then nothing else should be a major problem.

    Hi lads,

I'm considering selling my beemer, it's silver auto gearbox with beige leather interior. All electric (working!) - windows, mirrors, sunroof, cruise control, ABS, heated seats...

Original example, down to Blaupunkt MW/LW radio.

Serviced few months ago (done few hundred miles since), mileage about 77k.

Service history lost by previous owner although it must have been cherished. The car was imported from UK, Park Lane BMW dealer stickers still on windows.

    ZV plates.

A bit of body work needed to make pristine - rear n/s quarter panel was damaged, it's still fine for driving.

Supreme court (my best part, lovely wife) legislation regarding the limit of owned classic cars suggests selling to which I'm the most reluctant.

Anyway, let me know if interested.

    Thanks

Original example, down to Blaupunkt MW/LW radio. You can listen to RTE and some english stations :)

Serviced few months ago (done couple of hundred miles since), mileage almost 78k.

Service history lost by previous owner although it must have been cherished. The car was imported from UK, had 3 owners including a dealer as far as I remember, Park Lane BMW dealer stickers still on windows.

    Hi,

@mods: I'm trying to organize a vintage (77-82) Porsche 911 as a surprise wedding present for my wife to be. I've created a new account to avoid ruining the surprise, you can check the ip addy.

The only problem is that I'm useless when it comes to buying cars and even worse when it's a classic.

May I start a new thread please seeking info on where to start, what to look for, who to bring and anything on the upkeep?

    Thanks
    PS
