It'd be a sin to scrap it! I'm sure someone will make use of it, there's enough cars being scrapped lately :(

I can never work this one out, often hear the same, It's going to scrap yard unless sells for a ......... normally a unrealistic figure... WHY ?

Do some think that one will pay more just to save a car !! I am sure in some cases yes but on the norm no.

I know it's not an easy car to sell :) But does that mean i have to give it away?

Not really but threatening to send it to the scrappy for €100 hardly helps your position here when the price is €450

I honestly don't think that €450 is an unrealistic figure! All i'm saying is that i'm not going to give it away....

I'm not threatening... I'm just saying that i don't have the space to keep her and if she doesn't go soon, i won't have any other option but to scrap her... I'm sure that i'm not the only one on here that is suffering from lack of space :)

I was refering to people in generial 2cv not directed at you personally..

I dont think you should give it away NO, and yes it has a value to someone out there for sure.

When I said unrealistic, I was thinking of guy selling a car last year, it needed alot of work but was all there, his line to me was I will scrap it if I dont get a 1000 euro for it. So he turned down a offer of half the money he was asking and landed up scrapping it the following week. Did not make sense and there are alot out there like that.

In your case I can understand lack of space for sure and yes it might be worth 450 but would you rather scrap it or take money over the scrap value and let it live on as they say.

I'd love to see it live on, it's a cracking little car :D and i'll sure as hell miss it...

Sorry 2cv, this isn't meant as a dig or to undermine you, but it does bring up an interesting subject and as you're currently in this position maybe you can explain it to me.

What is a car actually worth if delivered to a scrap yard? €150 maybe? So would it not be better to take €250 off someone else and have an extra €100 in your back pocket along with knowing that the car will live on a little longer?

Sorry, I'm just trying to understand the logic behind a story as reported by okistag ... and it just doesn't make sense to me :o

Lads.... calm down... First of all i think you need to read Ali Baba's so called "offer"... He "offered" me €250 to make sure it gets scrapped. I'm sure we all know that Ali Baba still hates Renaults as much as he hated them under his previous username.

So in short, there is no offer :-)

Plenty calm :) Just figured, as you're selling a car, you might have an opinion on it. I know that with any car I've ever sold there's always been the idiot who offers pennies, so I kinda assumed that you would have had a few of those calls too and might have had an opinion on it ;)

No offers so far :) well apart from Ali Babba's "offer" of €250 to bring it to the crusher :)

Ah we all know those guys that want a perfect car with 6 years NCT, 10 years tax, fully rebuilt, for €20 :D Personally i don't play that game... I've looked at a lot of cars over the years. Some i bought, some i didn't buy. On some cars i bought, i haggled. On others, i even paid asking price (my 280SE for example). But i wouldn't offer pennies...
