    Hi

Hoping to sell a Van recently which my family acquired due to a sale of property.

The van is a Ford Escort 1.8D 1999 with 1 elderly owner and 36,000Miles. It has fully stamped service history and all the original ford dealer number plates, tax disk holder, manuals etc . It was kept in a Garage since new so the paint work is practically brand new. It only ever done short 10 mile trips by the owner and would never have been on a long journey or for that matter out of the county. It is totally water tight and no rust like all escorts. The seats had covers on them so they are like new also. The driving wheel and gearstick have no wear at all and the original radio would never have been used.

It was last used in Dec/Jan 2008 and was then left parked in the garage ever since until we recently had to remove it. We got it re-commissioned, and fully serviced.

It now has MOT until November 2013 and is fully Taxed until December 2013.

How much would a van like this be worth? and where would best be to advertise it?

We want to sell it soon as it remains in its original state.

No pics yet, as i intend to fully valet it at the weekend and take some pics for the advert.

    Thanks.

Strange this is left unansweredfor eight hours , but its kinda quiet in here lately.
Without a doubt its worth1,000 euro, perhaps 2000. I have just come in from a long day, will have a look on donedeal and ebay.co.uk.
Someone will say long runs would have been better than short.

    Regards Rugbyman

Id say rugbyman is right, 1-1500 is prob your price, is it English and have you pics. Sounds like a lovely vehicle and almost a shame its a van as a hard life is almost certainly ahead of it.

Just a thought. Have you spoken to ford UK or Ireland to see if they would be interested. If its condition is as described then they may want it for promotional purposes... Hoping I have been of some help

    Thanks for the reply guys.

Its an Irish Van. Red in color. Irish Doe and Tax till December 2013. I would much prefer if it had been a 3dr fiesta car or van in black or silver. :)

Yeah its such in original condition i dont want to see it fading or getting worn. would love some1 to buy it who would keep it for shows. the paint work didn't even need to be polished as it was always kept in a garage. The man who drove it passed away and was left untouched/un-opened from 2008 until December 2012. The mileage is genuine as he kept all the old recepits and DOE certs with the correct mileage printed on each. He got it serviced twice a year also.

I hope you've put a new timing belt on it, the old Ford 1.8D is prone to breaking belts, 36k is the interval

Any engine that has been unused for a long time should have its TB replaced, I've seen a few that were relatively new, snap having been laid up for less than a year.

I've a few oddments for BMW 1502/1602/2002 for sale here:

    http://www.adverts.ie/2441921

Also a Dunlop tracking Gauge here:

    http://www.adverts.ie/2462858

If you're restoring or maintaining a classic and you need to track it without going to a laser set-up, this is the ideal tool. New, they're a mad price, around a grand, so I'll sell this for a decent fair offer, I haven't been restoring classics for over ten years and not likely to get back to it any time soon.

^ Tax is actually 11/2013. Can't see the attraction of 'dealer' number plate and tax disc holder.

I think your asking price (and why say 'Price is as stated?) is way too high. The van is not collectible yet by a long shot, and has been laid up for a very long time. The tyres, for instance, should be replaced.

GLWS anyway, and I hope I'm proved wrong.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,045 ✭✭✭Grimreaper666

I think it's a fair price for this tbh, it's a rare find that's for sure. Hope it finds a caring owner anyway who continues minds it well. Good luck with the sale.

...........I think I know this van and it IS a clean one. He looked after it like a car and I dont think it got any abuse. You say it was a property deal ?? When I last saw it there were some nice Mercs on the drive whilst the van was INSIDE the garage !
