For Sale - W124 Mercedes Benz Estate E220
Putting this up for sale due to lack of use. I only use it about once a week now & seeing as the summer is coming, (I hope) I plan to use the classics more.
So, details are as follows :

    1996 W124 E220
    147k Miles
    Currently NCT'd

In overall very good condition, there are a lot of dogs out there..

As anyone who knows me will tell you, I look after my vehicles very well.
This is a fantastic vehicle. I've had many W124s and this really has to be the best one I've owned. Has been all over Ireland & a lot of France & never missed a beat.
It has the option of the extra seats in the back making it a seven seater.
It has the factory fitted lumbar adjustable (fully working & rare extra) drivers seat as pictured.
Sunroof not working, motor fine, it's the cables.
Last serviced by Peter Sheridan Mercedes Specialist in Rathgar.
    Needs nothing doing.
Going with the car is a fully locking Brutsaert roofbox & locking Thule roofbars.

All in all this is a very good example & viewing is recommended.
I'll post it here before the dreaded DoneDeal so any interested parties can PM me.

    Asking price €2,200

    A few pictures below -

    Hi Boards,

Does anyone know of or have an Armstrong Siddley Star Sapphire? Anything before 1960. I'm told the tolerance for the boot closure was 1/32nd of an inch. So those of you who can read between the lines, you're all quite correct, this isn't for me, it's for me Dad. The initial search found nothing. Apparently, there are only 150 left running in the world. 900 were made. Dad owned 2 of them. Here's a rambling account of what happened that caused the loss of both. And as such, I'm trying to replace one.

1972: Angelsea road cricket club has a long lane that allowed parking of just about anything along it. Here was my Dad's old Armstrong Siddley Star Sapphire (limousine model), an ex limousine used in funerals. It has a 3.4L engine with cross-flow valves which is the style of the 1960s for engines. The car itself at this stage is not in the best state of repair and has been bouht as a 'going concern' for (close to) piss-take purproses. Then Tom O'Byrne turns up. Dad hands Tom the keys. Tom puts it into storage. Due to an alcoholic addiction at the time, Dad figures its safer not to be driving at all. Mam sorted things out (or so it would appear) with regards to the alcohol, though as a generalisation, apparently 'everyone has some sort of drink problem' at the time. Sadly, Tom is not as trustworthy as he first seems. "He was a total Walter Mitty" (?). DZA146 was the limousine and DZA295 was the saloon model, also lost to the ether aka Tom. Bought for £50 though, from Joe Wong, so obviously not a great deal (this is the saloon now) what with the missing oil gauge and all. Tom O'Byrne later dies in 1985. He never explains to Dad where any of the cars are.

Dad often asked (when Tom was alive and could be found) 'dude, where's my car?' although in traditional Irish evasiveness style, he never received a satisfactory answer. So it was then that Tom eventually died, never revealing where the cars had gone. And what's worse is this apparently happened TWICE. Tom got both cars. Both cars vanished. Dad gave Tom sets of keys for both cars. I'm trying to get him to tell me how this happened but it's a pretty painful memory so information is scant. Sufficed to say, that of the 900 Armstrong Siddley Star Sapphires ever made in the world between 1958 and 1960, Dad owned 2 of them and managed to have them both misappropriated in some fashion. The company making the cars stopped making cars completely after 1960 in favour of aeroplane engine. This converted company was later bought up and amalgamated into a nameless multinational.

So goes the story. My task for you all then is to try and find me any Armstrong Siddley Star Sapphire (late model with single headlight preferred) for €15,000. That's your budget. Some upward expansion possible. I'll keep looking on my end of course, but naturally any leads you may be able to offer would be of great assistance. If one can be found, (navy over silver please) it would greatly lift Dad's spirits.

Looking for some bits off a citroen CX preferable a diesel, mostly things like bolts and plastic pieces. If you have any leads it would be great. Have been onto the specialists getting more detail info so I can maybe find alternative pieces. But something abandoned near Dublin would be handy. :)

Fair point but I still pass the garage on the old lucan rd daily so it may not be him there, shud take down the sign if not thou.

the other option could be the cx featured in the motors forum in kilmainham ( I wanna say) nose poking out under the geraniums or something. If its merely artwork at this stage then they might swap parts for plants!

Looking for a decent set of alloys to suit a Chevette, nothing huge, just a nice set so I can ditch the original steels!

    Anyone?!

A nice set of Minilites would look really well on it.

CARCHAEOLOGIST, I have a set of 14" from a !88 Lancia Delta, would need re-furbishing if they would suit you. The tyres are probably rotten, but good treads on them. Give me a call if you are interested! :D:D

    Thanks for ther Reply Matt!
I would love them but being an Italian car the PCD is slightly different, 4x98 offset 37.
The Chevette is 4x100 offset 31. Ideally id like a set of 13" if at all possible.
Also FWD verses RWD offset might be an issue?

I'm looking for a set of rear seatbeltsand a parcel shelf for my 83 Mk1 Golf Gti.

Must be black in colour and in very good condition.

Location of parts is not a problem, I can send a courier to collect.

    Cheers Murph
