Just passed two of the enormous concrete beams on the M6, they were headed West past Ballinasloe at 14:30.

Is this the flyover that the present N18/future R458 will use?

Anyone got any idea yet what the Interchange will look like at its end? Any example similar structure in Ireland or UK to compare?

Here is a similar junction in Bury, in a Bing maps view.

Here is a similar junction in Bury, in a Bing maps view.

That's actually a fairly interesting junction - it's part of the M60 Manchester Ring Road, though because of piecemeal construction the M60 doesn't actually travel straight through the junction - you actually have to travel around the roundabout and turn left or right to stay on the M60, which is a bit of a mess.

If you look at it closely on the Bing maps view you can also see that there are colour coded lanes to help people around it.

Rathmorrisy day three of beam lift bridges 1 and 3 beams now in place the starting to work on the 3rd bridge bigger crane has been brought in

Am not too sure I can take much more of this crane porn :)

Wonder what the progress will be here once the beam lifts are completed. Seems like the rapid work here recently has been to prepare the sites to allow the cranes and beams to get into place for the lifts.

There still a lot work to be done a lot of rock will have to be brought in for the roundabout and flyover

    Concrete pillars inside the scaffolding.

This is how it looked a few months ago just as they started to assemble scaffolding

    Concrete pillars inside the scaffolding.

So, the precast beams will only be used directly over and the M6 and the rest of the M17/M18 mainline will be on the embankments. Is that correct?

Despite the tall concrete pillars under the scaffolding they will still have to construct the reinforced embankments. Or will they extend the flyover on either side? So far this overpass looks different than the two for the roundabout.

Is there any detailed drawing available for the entire junction?

How about the roundabout? I guess it will be running under the M17/M18 mainline via short underpasses.

No, the M17/18 has to clear the roundabout as well. Take a look at the Bury junction I linked above.

The roundabout at annagh hill is now open

I know that, I just wonder if it's going to be a one long overpass or three shorter ones (over the roundabout, M6 and the roundabout again) and embankments between them.

Not initially I don't think, but three level stacks eventually all need them.
