Hi, just wondering if anyone has any advice as to where I can source a puppy. We are really looking for a boxer but they seem to be very expensive. We go to the local animal sanctuary but are finding it hard ot get puppies. I really think a puppy would be our best option for thr children. Does anyone one know any good sites or possibly of a litter. We are in Wicklow

    Have you contacted the IKC?
If you're looking at a purebred registered puppy it's going to be expensive, you won't get one cheap.
If you're not set on a boxer, I'd keep my eye out in local shelters. Have you checked with Ash Animal Shelter? and the DSPCA?

Thanks for that. We are not necessarily looking for a purebred etc hence the reason ehy we dont want to pay big money. I have been to WSPCA. Where is DSPCA?

I have alos replied to some ads on a few sites but some of them a bogus.

DSPCA is off Mount Venus road in Dublin, but it's very south Dublin, as you're in Wicklow I thought perhaps ye might make the trip. And Ash is down Wicklow direction too.

Boxer is a great choice for a family pet, good with children & easy to train but need plenty of excercise.

I take it you're being sarcastic aboutimeilogin.
OP- if you have problems finding the age bracket you're looking for in ASH, have a look at the pups available for adoption in the Agency Rehoming Thread in the Animal Welfare section at the top of the forum.

aboutimeilogin I'm not sure i understand your post. What has a pet shop to do with europe? And does this man sell a lot of dogs? I'm not sure about a pet shop selling dogs Tbh. As Socket said OP- we also have rehoming threads in the animal welfare sub forum.

Buying puppies online or in a pet store is a dodgy route to go, this is how puppy mills thrive and I'm sure the OP does not ant to support this.

Dogs In Distress (www.dogsindistress.org) have lots of puppies at the moment. They are baised in Dunboyne, but don't have a rescue premises - they take dogs directly out of Ashton Pound, place them into foster care and rehome them. Very good organisation, definately recommend a look.

There is another Irish Dog Rescue service which has been set up in the west of Ireland called MADRA

They often have puppies and are worth having a chat to.

We got two dogs from inistioge puppy rescue in Kilkenny last year and the year before. They constantly update their website everday. No charge for the dogs just give a donation whatever you want to give. They do a great job down there. We got a terrior cross and a springer spaniel.
