Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Plasma will be cheaper but you will not get the full effects from it in HD also some manufactures will/have stopped making plasmas which will make your new plasma obsolete pretty soon.Go for LCD by all means

I probably should have opened this thread in the HE - General area rather than here.

You might get a more rounded set of opinions on the merits of plasma vs LCD and info on the current models in that forum all right.:)

Though - have a look at this thread in this forum

    Hi,
I haven't a clue what imeddyhobbs is on about and I don't think he knows himself but at that size LCD is your only option.
Have a look on the Richersounds forum and you will be looked after.

This is pure gibberish. Only pioneer have pulled out of making plasma because the market wouldn't pay for the extra quality in sufficient numbers. Plasma is not obsolete nor will be any sooner than LCD and anyway CRT is "obsolete" but there are plenty of people happily using them. I have no idea what "full effects" mean in this context but whatever it is, plasma technology doesn't limit picture quality over LCD.

OP, you will have to buy LCD because that's all available at the size you are looking for. Generally Sony, Panasonic and Samgsung are considered the best for LCD but individual TV's at different price points may differ. Read hdtvtest.co.uk and avforums reviews. Look out of mpeg4 compatibility if you want to watch the RTE/TV3/TG4 on DTT.
