Any tips to help my setup?

    I have just moved from Irishbroadband to Vodaphone at home broadband.

    Its just connected up this morning on the 7 mb service. This is what a speedtest came back with.

    Last Result:
    Download Speed: 4303 kbps (537.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
    Upload Speed: 410 kbps (51.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

    I know I will never get 7 MB download, its not possible, but am looking for tips about how to get the best out of what I have.

    Anyone got any recommendations about tweaks/settings/tips about how to make it as efficient as possible

    Laptop running Vista and occasionally desktop running XP.

    Certainly. I really would appreciate any suggestions.

    How do I get that.

    In work at the moment, wont be home till after eleven.

    No problem, which router are you using for your Broadband?

    Put it this way, try to download a file off a fast server and see what you get in terms of KB/sec and multiply by 8 for the mb/sec

    I have a 10Mb connection but speedtest is currently giving me 5.4Mb, however if I download a file I hit over 1MB/sec which is close to my max. I've stopped trusting speedtest as I never find it that reliable on either ping or download speed

    Its branded "BEWAN", model ARV4510PW-A VFI

    If that means anything to you.
